Central Bank of Oman issues silver coin to commemorate 36th National Day

MUSCAT — The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) yesterday announced the issuance of a silver commemorative coin on the occasion of the 36th National Day and the selection of Muscat as the Capital of Arab Culture for the year 2006.

 

The coin depicts the logo of Muscat the Capital of Arab Culture 2006. This coin, the apex bank said, is a legal tender for its face value and can be purchased from the CBO.

 

The distinctive features and specifications the coin include Oman’s emblem (coat of arms — khanjar), the name of the country (Sultanate of Oman), the name of the central bank and denomination in Arabic and English. The other side of the coin depicts the logo of Muscat the Capital of Arab Culture 2006 in colours. Specifications are 0.925 silver fineness, 38.70mm diameter, 28.28gm weight and RO12 price.

 

The price, however, is subject to change in accordance with the variations in the prices of the bullion in the international market.
