(November 6, 2006) — Who were the most passionate collectors visiting the Rochester Museum & Science Center this past weekend? Let's toss a coin.

About 500 collectors and browsers crowded the museum's Eisenhart Auditorium to eyeball towering stacks of coins. Seated behind battered tables, 35 area dealers bought and sold blindingly polished currency for 25 cents to $4,000 an item.

The Rochester Numismatic Association's 34th annual coin show was a quick-moving event Saturday and Sunday. Money changed hands so fast that at one point Sunday, five $100 bills slipped unnoticed between two piles of coins. Fortunately, a dealer rescued the lost cash before any passersby could enjoy a windfall.
