Timofei
This is the letter I received couple of days ago, I put it here exactly as it was received. Forgery Network (http://www.ForgeryNetwork.com) is now seeking sponsorship for its website. Now in its second year of operation, it has over 3000 fake or questionable coins in its public database. The site now has well over one thousand visitors per week from all over the world - see http://clustrmaps.com/counter/maps.php?url...gerynetwork.com for the statistics of the past four weeks. Users are almost always buying collectors or resellers. You will be able to expose your companies brand and site to these visitors. It will also help position your company as company serious about containing internet forgery. This will encourage buyers click on your advertisement and to view what you have to offer. Newer collectors will realize the value of buying from reputable dealers or the risks associated with buying from unknown sellers. This system has proven to be invaluable source of identify fakes through finding exact cast and die matching twins and the database, along with its users continues to grow rapidly. We can give you a whole year worth of advertising for less than a single magazine add and your support against forgeries will be widely recognized. Our pricing is as follows... Graphic adverstisment on top blue bar. One year $395 or six months $275 or Three months $200 or one Month $100 We are going to make some changes to the site very shortly. The Google advertising will be removed and these spots (about the same size, but slightly wider) will be $550 per year. The message above will be changed to “Please regularly support our sponsors as they keep this site operating”. We hope you will support this invaluable independent resource to help eradicate the selling of fake coins as authentic. In the past we have covered our costs through donations. While we are in the process of moving to sponsorship any donations will be greatly appreciated. Timofei
This letter just shows that it is not easy to maintain the databese. First of all, such database of fakes cannot be commercial I think.

Loyal Citizen
I don't think coin is fake - seller simply doesn't have it That's why I call it "fake seller" :-) I guess this coin is from latest Gelos auction.
RW Julian
That's why I call it "fake seller" :-) I guess this coin is from latest Gelos auction. Lot 103 of the 30 September sale. Moreover, the "seller" has had no activity on eBay for more than 5 years, generally a sign of a hijacked account. Reported to eBay. RWJ

Andrey5
Another fake of a Russian coin on eBay http://cgi.ebay.com/RUSSIA-1-2-Rouble-50-k...1QQcmdZViewItem And this eBayer sells pictures, not coins. http://cgi.ebay.com/1-Rouble-1741-S-P-B-Si...1QQcmdZViewItem This coin was sold by Gelos on May 25, 2006 for $5865 (including commission), the picture sells for $50 only, but that's better than nothing. Another Rouble from the same Gelos auction "sold" by seller7889 http://cgi.ebay.com/1-Rouble-1707-Silver-2...1QQcmdZViewItem
bobh
Another fake of a Russian coin on eBayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/RUSSIA-1-2-Rouble-50-k...1QQcmdZViewItem His 1883 commemorative rouble also looks suspicious ... surfaces are unevenly porous such as often happens with cast forgeries ... details, especially on reverse, are not as sharp as the overall condition of the coin would imply. RW Julian
Another fake of a Russian coin on eBayhttp://cgi.ebay.com/RUSSIA-1-2-Rouble-50-k...1QQcmdZViewItem Even though the piece is obviously modern, the date is also wrong. All genuine 1761 poltinas are overdates, 1761/0. RWJ
barnowlancients
Hello, If a lot of people do a little, then there will be more resources against fakes. There is the Forgerynetwork now, which is free to view and load fakes (with about 5000 fakes so far). And active anti forgery groups like the CFE.
