gxseries
Firstly I spotted the 1912 ruble and now this... the ultra ultra ultra (yes ultra rare) RARE commemorative gangut ruble. There is supposed to be a mintage of 30,300 but many, if not most of them were forced to be remelted for some unknown reasons. Gangut ruble on auction This coin is SO rare that in fact, even counterfeit gangut rubles sell VERY hot, which even goes easily over 250USD, whether you believe it or not... Btw... if you wondered how expensive that ruble is... I am expecting it to hit around 4000-6000USD... :|
Tane
That's the dream coin of every collector of Russian coins I have heard, that it was remelted to get the material for roubles of 1921 and 1922. So, if you have a star-rouble, you might have a Gangut-rouble too, one way or another... The ones held in collections now are most likely novodels made in 1920's, because most of the original mintage got melted. This coin is SO rare that in fact, even counterfeit gangut rubles sell VERY hot, which even goes easily over 250USD, whether you believe it or not... Well, that's because some people just are STUPID. gxseries
Actually, I do have a copy coin, I was too tempted not to buy it But the quality of the coin is amazing high, including all the rim details. The only two things that gave it away was one of the details in the crest, and the other was the metal alloy. Other than that, I think I got to admit that it is one of the highest *copy* quality coins ever made...
Tane
Actually, I do have a copy coin, I was too tempted not to buy it I didn't mean to offend you or anyone, but don't you agree it is crazy to pay $250 for a copy? Hopefully you weren't the one who paid that much Go ahead people, buy copies. If i don't like them, it doesn't mean that others aren't allowed to like them. gxseries
Well, the only thing that anyone would dream of getting is the 1825 Konstatin Ruble... now is something that I wouldn't mind getting a copy of...
Tane
My policy is, that if i can't afford some genuine rare coin, then be it. A copy, no matter how good, won't be the same, atleast not for me.

nicholasz219
I agree with Tane. There is no sense in purchasing a copy if I can not afford the real thing. Anyone who would like to do so is welcome to do so, but I think that any purchase of copy coins only encourages counterfeits. IMHO
