Dave
Nice notes, Baxuss! Cool low serial number on that Dominican note, too! I like when that happens. I got in these Hong Kong notes today. I see that I didn't upload my new Tongan notes, nor two recent Djibouti notes on here, but they're on Banknote bank. One of the Tongan notes is a nice radar serial number (if your into that sort of thing - I'm not too much, but it doesn't hurt to have it!). MMMM
Indeed nice notes Baxuss. Now I need to go get that 50 from the Standard Chartered Bank. Thanks Dave...
ccg
When is that HSBC $50 from? I don't recall seeing that type before. BTW, on the topic of HK notes, BoC is issuing commem HK$100 and Macau 100 notes to celebrate their (bank's) centennial.
Dave
The HSBC note is from 2011. I'm anxiously awaiting the new nots from the BOC. I've seen the Maucau design online, and I like it a lot. Haven't seen the HK design - hope its a different design than the Macau note. Both notes have essentially the same front design. http://www.boc.cn/bi...06_1695972.html
MMMM
Nothing fancy, Somalia 5 Shilin 1978. It is kind of like the Portuguese notes of Angola from the 1960's; however, I do not believe Somalia was a Portuguese colony but rather Italian. I wonder who did the design and printing. Dave
Hey, your riight about it being reminiscent of the Angolan notes. I was thinking that the back was reminding me of the Guinea notes designs of a few years back, but the front is much more like the Angolan notes. I haven't a book t o look in right note, but I'd bet it was done by the same printing company for sure. Nice note btw!
MMMM
The Angola notes were supposedly done by Thomas De La Rue. What style would you call this? It is not like a French Note.

Dave
The notes prior to 1972 were printed by the OCV, in Italy. Th SCWPM doesn't mention the printer after that series, and this series is indeed different in style. Maybe someone with more info on them will be able to chime in soon. Dave
I came home to this note today. It's amazaing how you can want a note, but it just never seems to be the right price, condition, etc. and you take forever to get it. This is one of those notes. almingbg
Searching is very important part of collecting. Nothing beats the feeling when you finally find something that you've been searching for years.
MMMM
This Iranian note (10 Rials from 1948) though not very impressive to look at, has a heavier paper which gives the intaglio printing an amazing texture to feel.
Dave
Neat note, MMMM. I like the odd creature hybrid on the reverse.... Whatever it is, I don't think I'd want to run into one.
chinnotes
The creature on back of the Iranian note is Simurgh, a mythological bird. In Iranian art (an on this Iranian note) Simurgh is mostly shown with a dog's head and claws of a lion. In Iranian mythology Simurgh once saved a baby called Zal on top of Mt. Demavend, and grew him up. Zal became the father of a famous Iranian hero... Erwin
Dave
Was looking for this in AU, but it seems to go from VF straight to UNC in higher grades and too much money - so here it is in VF grade. At least I finally got one of them. Been looking for way too long.

MMMM
Nice note Dave, Do you now have all the "Experimentals"? Also, I think they were testing the paper on that version, do see any difference compared to other notes durring that time?
Dave
Nice note Dave, Do you now have all the "Experimentals"? Also, I think they were testing the paper on that version, do see any difference compared to other notes durring that time? I qdont have ALL the experimentals, but I do have the R ans S ones. I might go for the ores at some point, but for now I'm going to focus on a couple other areas. As for a difference - well my first impression of the S was that there was nothing discernible. And that was to be expected, as the whole experiment was evidently unconclusive (I haven't found anything to state what the REAL differences were in the first place) .. But when I got the R not I was at first thinking it was a bit thinner. I at first dismissed this as it is a VF grade (sold as VF-xf) while my S is a Au-unc. I will try to get some time this evening to better compare them side by side.
