The PCI Guy
Austrian i'm afraid... restrike maybe but i always liked 'em! Don't worry GX, even if your coin loses this particular one it still has to face F1 and F2, no straight eliminations this round.

Ian
There's little to choose from. Both are steeped in heraldic symbolry....but I think the obverse of the Austrian adds a certain `je ne sais quoi' to it to tip the balance in its favour.......but I may be showing a bit of bias as well here. geordie582
The Russian. The 4ducats looks as though it was made yesterday (and could have as far as I'm concerned)!

Ian
The 4ducats looks as though it was made yesterday (and could have as far as I'm concerned)! The `prooflike' fields / frosted devices are the result of the high quality, state of the art minting in 1915. Taste aside, it is a nigh on flawless wafer thin crown size gold coin that has been fairly well conserved. That is, unlike many of the type it hasn't been bent, polished, melted, holed, made into jewellery.....yet. You could do a lot worse than having a few hundred of these in your collection.
