  1. Nice purchase, is it uniface?
  2. I got a 1942 mercury dime tonight, woot.
  3. Awesome note Jeff, what did that run you?
  4. Last night I found a 1918 wheatie in one of the cash tills. It's around a ~G-4 or so, not superb or anything, I had shown it to a friend, who then produced from his pocket a find from earlier in the day, a 1919 wheatie in ~Vg-8 condition. I just found it amusing that we found two very old and sequential wheaties from two different tills throughout the day.
  5. The trends for old and unusual coins and currencies go like this. Holiday time (mainly Christmas) people spend the money they had "put away" for a long time. Second one is when the stock-market tanks. People get afraid and start spending money that was stuck away for a very long time. I've been working in retail for a long time and have a friend that used to be a bank teller, it really does happen this way. I've found more silver and older coins and notes in general in the last two years than in the previous eight and each holiday brings in lots of interesting goodies.
  6. For the most part we only have a few decades left before we run out of sequentially numbered coins...and as for the Gregorian calender, we will only be off by a few days each year won't we? I don't recall the predecessor being that different.
  7. I love the look of the newer proof Jeffersons, but I really prefer the modeling of the hair on the older ones. The "extra" hair in the newer designs is just too much for such a small coin. I prefer to see complexity based on size not on concept when it comes to coins.
  8. I got bills. I haven't had anything new in a long time. My pockets are essentially sewn shut.
  9. I'm out until 1586 and 1580....then until a bit further lol. Yay to Tommy btw!
  10. Awesome notes Scottishmoney and Jtryka! I hope I can start buying again in the next few months, that stuff is very appealing.
  11. Back into collecting again DF? What happened with selling?
  12. Wow, I need to find me one of those!
  13. I'll dig through mine and see it I can come up with one.
  14. I'm still a huge fan of the Zambian notes, but those certainly do have nice eye appeal.
  15. Thanks Bill. In that case, it's just a normal misalignment in my opinion.
  16. I've come across a few errors similar to the one pictured. Although they are not common, they are not very rare either. Also I am not familiar with their lettering styles or verbage but the top coin has a different character on the obverse second down from the plant-like shape. Is that just part of the date or could it be something else? I'm just asking because these are known to be counterfeited as well.
  17. I've gotten plenty of pre-kennedy halves over the years from work, they are in tills, but circulation none-the-less. I also got a 1929 wheatie in Xf today.
  18. I wouldn't worry about the DC quarters, they are ugly as sin. However, I would hold onto the Puerto Rico quarters if you collect the newer junk, they have a pretty low mintage as territory quarters go.
  19. I got an log splitter lincoln cent down in the Florida Keys from a store near the end of mile marker 1. So I think it's safe to say the new lincolns made it to all points in the lower 48 by now.
  20. Got a 1934 Richmond(E) $20 note last night. It's in Vg or so, so it's not really worth much over face, still very cool to find. I'm still debating if I want to rerelease it or try and make a few bucks...meh.
  21. One heck of a nose on that guy.
  22. You know...I think you've found more change on the ground there, than I've ever found here in the States.
  23. Found a 1942-P mercury dime last night at work. It's been a while since one of them came through!
