  1. I've known people who have received coins from the 1800's in circulation but the oldest I've ever found was a 1913-S Lincoln cent. ;)

A couple years back, while at a gas station, the attendant showed me a Morgan Silver Dollar someone had just used to purchase gas. He didn't know what it was but he wouldn't part with it either. :ninja:

  2. I'd like to suggest that you go to the website for the Coin Dealer Newsletter and purchase the latest single copy. It's considered an authoritative source of pricing by most insurance companies. Then, you can price your losses and attach a copy. I just think this will get a lot more attention down to the local police department than a letter from someone they never heard of.

    Just a thought.

    Good luck.

It's a great thought and the perfect answer. :ninja:

  3. Hey Tane, I saw that medal and couldn't kick-back till it got ID'd.

I found it on a closed auction:

    RUSSIAN EMPIRE. Commemorative Medal 1905.

NICHOLAS II (1894 - 1917) Original Imperial Russia Jetton "R.Peto / Exhibition of International Philanthropic Union - Cookery, Nutrition and Hygiene. PERUIN. Paris 1905" in brass. The averse is with the text in Russian R.Peto and two ancient sculptures, exhibition's symbols. The reverse is with date 1905, PARIS and description of the action in French, PERUIN in Russian below. Diameter 22 mm.

Hope that helps, now I can go have a brew! :ninja:

    You're good......You're real good.

  4. It's a great feeling finding a coin (or anything for that matter) that you had lost. I too lost a few coins/banknotes and figured they were gone for good. Found them a year later.

  5. Whitman:

Lincoln Cents 1909-Present w/Proofs ..just a few keys remain to be had

Jefferson Nickels 1938-1967. Very old book

Roosevelt Dimes 1946-1964 ..Complete/all Mint State.

Roosevelt Dimes 1946-present.....trying to put together a toned set in this one.

Liberty Nickels 1885 to 1912 ..Complete

    Peace Dollars 1921 to 1935...Complete

I have a book of Buffalos but it's incomplete and the one's I have in it are pretty low grade. I really need to work on it.

I also have a couple Meghrig albums (Morgan and Liberty Nickels) but I won't ever complete those.
