  1. I have a 1776-1976 half dollar. What is unique about it is on both sides the Mint struck a diamond with the number 40 inside. I read somewhere in the past (can't remember where) that when they switched to the silver blank, some were accidentally struck on the wrong type of normal clad instead of silver clad and those coins were marked for destruction. Is this one of those coins that somehow managed to escape final destruction?
