  1. Very nice. I always enjoyed my well used coins becuase of the history I could image surrounding them.
  2. This is a great thread and I check it frequently. Unfortunately I have nothing to contribute or perhaps fortunately as I do not need another coin area to fuss over.
  3. Nice coins tommy. I've nothing near this old. I guess I'll wait for the thread to cycle through again.
  4. Thanks for the info. Makes an interesting collection if you're into trains.
  5. I really like the train coins. How many are there in the complete set? Are they all silver? Are they dollar or half dollar size?
  6. That's a great specimen note. I image they are quite difficult to find.
  7. Just got a 1977 FRN $1 in change. It's in great shape for a note that old. Strong center crease but no tears or missing corners. Clean surfaces. No scan - can't get scanner working right now.
  8. Interesting project. Can't wait for the results.
  9. I believe there are six territories quarters. Wash. DC Puerto Rico Guam American Samoa US Virgin Islands Northern Mariana Islands Got a 1957-D Roosevelt in change this past week.
  10. I like having the pedigree on some of my coins. While I don't think the items that I have are significantly increased in value because of the pedigree I have been tempted a few times to acquire coins from collections such as the Eliasberg collection. I have a note that came from the Q.David Bowers collection. It's really neat for me because I've read so much of his writing and enjoy it so much.
  11. Nice finds. I haven't done any searching in a long while. You folks have me enthused again. I'm asking for some rolls for Father's Day.
  12. Part of being extremely cheap is avoiding paying extra for so called pristine coins. (I admit that I do have one MS70 rated coin in my collection )
  13. One of the things I enjoy about coins from that era is the obvious wear. These items were used and used and used. It's fun to think of all the things they may have purchased and all the people who may have had them.
  14. That's a neat medal. It's amazing how many of these types of things were produced and sold.
  15. That's an interesting question. I'm wondering if anyone has really investigated this and has an answer.
  16. Very neat coins. I especially like the Genoans that you've pictured.
  17. Great notes. The Military note is especially interesting. I like anything that's Civil War related.

Ian that's a beauty. It'll be worth the sawdust sandwiches for a while.
