  1. Great note Dave. What's the story on the red "S"?
  2. Very nice find. I hope you continue to have this type of luck.
  3. Wonderful coin at a great price.
  4. I understand your concerns but I think the buyer is responsible to set the price or agree with the asking amount. When I shop at shows or the coin meetings, I look at a few coins and ask the prices. I don't do the haggle thingie. "1950-D Jefferson. Full steps you say. How much do you want for it?" Full steps or not, if I like the coin and the price I'll make a deal. FS and price too high, no thanks. After three no gos with a particular dealer I don't bother at that table again. On the other hand when I find a dealer I like, I go there first and I'm usually willing to spend a bit more because they've made the shopping experience pleasurable.
  5. Great coin Ian and an interesting purchase story to go with it.
  6. I'd post it in a separate thread and ask for info. I'm pretty sure that a few folks here could help.
  7. Beautiful Jeffersons. I totally agree with your approach. If I like it then it meets my collection requirement. What the seller may think of condition, etc is at best interesting for discussion and pricing purposes.
  8. Very nice pickups. They're all quite attractive.
  9. I got this fantastic postcard in the mail yesterday. It's from Kevin at Niagara Falls. It has a pullout slide on one side. Very funny. Niagara Falls Postcard 1 by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr Paddling merrily along and THEN!!! Niagara Falls Postcard 21 by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr Thanks Kev. I got a really nice chuckle out of this.
  10. Beautiful Tommy. It's one of the nicest I've seen.
  11. Great Whipple Dollar. I've only seen one other and that was at the last FUN show I attended. It wasn't slabbed and it was quite expensive.
  12. Very interesting. Nice "dollar". Super photo work.
  13. Very nice Jeff. You have a wonderful collection.
  14. I like that one too. Great coin wish I had it in my collection. I'm mostly gathering PR69DCAMs in the later issues. Earlier I sort of go with what's out there when I want to buy.
  15. Here's another nice Roosie 2003S Roosevelt Dime Silver PR69DCAM obv by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 2003S Roosevelt Dime Silver PR69DCAM rev by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr
  16. I've been experimenting a bit with lighting and such but haven't made much solid progress. I think the images are acceptable but want to try to get full-frame shots of just the coins soon. Another camera setup to work out.
  17. I'm still working on my blast white unc/proof raw set. The coins can be quite difficult to find. I've never thought of a toner set but that could be very nice to do. Keep us updated as you go?
  18. Libby will be in college by the time we see her again.
  19. Great going! Keep looking.
  20. Superb Jeffersons Alan. I really enjoy this series.
  21. I really haven't found anything recently. Got a silver Roosevelt a few months back and that's it. I still have not found even one (1) America the Beautiful Quarter in change.
  22. Great toning pics. Can you tell us a bit about how you managed to capture the colors so beautifully?
  23. My concern with Roosevelts is the silver content. As the price keeps moving up the common pre-65 and post 91 silver issues will start to hit the melting pot. I think this has already started to have an effect on Washington quarters and certainly on Kennedy half dollars.
  24. Nice '55. I prefer the NGC holders but stick mostly to PCGS because the PCGS slabs work for both the PCGS Registry and NGC Registry sets.
  25. I've been messing with photographing and scanning some coins and such so I couldn't let this pass without adding a few nice Roosevelts to this thread. I still love the little pups. 2005S Roosevelt Dime PR69DCAM obv by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 2005S Roosevelt Dime PR69DCAM rev by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 2007S Roosevelt Dime Silver PR69DCAM obv by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr 2007S Roosevelt Dime Silver PR69DCAM rev by UGotaHaveArt, on Flickr
