    Art

Received my end of a deal with Art. Always good, thanks!
  2. It seems that way. Or maybe they are both so ugly that indecision rules? Or has my babbling put everyone into the Twilight Zone?
  3. Neither is nice. I put my vote on the former. The latter is a clear cut throw away for me. But that first one I would actually be tempted to keep, and that scares me. It must hold some evil powers!
  4. For those with speakers and Real Player or other media player who want a heightened experience, start with the first link. The second can then be listened to for the remaining duration. Intro Background mood music Welcome to a bizarre yet familiar destination. Each fork in the road brings us back to the start. We still do not know where we are going. Weakened by curiosity, we continue forward; picking up strangers, willing passengers to enter Coinpeople's Ugly Zone. Our consciousness sees them, but their essence eludes us. They are our daily companions that we seldom think of. They shun beauty and vanity in order to vie for our attention. Amazing what happens when Time and its sidekick Space decide to abruptly stop. And stop they did all over this cent. Not just once but as our heads were lost in their aimless orbit, trying to focus on the single impossibility of the here and now, this cent was already beyond our vision, being dragged by that duo across the abrasive and corroding dimensions of themselves. Their bequeathment to us: As usual we are handicapped by our humanity. We desire a hero to save us, explain to us, lift us up beyond the shortcomings that has been bequeathed us. Desperate, we latch on to the first available candidate and soon find ourselves back at square one. Our "hero" is but a mere reflection of our antagonist. We see the glimmer of what once was, yet it degenerates before us. We envision our hero, but our eyes deceive us: the green is only verdigris. Is all lost? Our heads continue to orbit . . .
  5. Another generous trade deal with Bill! Many thanks! You are Grrrrrrrrreat!
  6. Another goodie from Bill, good and fast.
  7. My oldest dated coin is a Maria Theresa thaler, though it is a later re-strike. Other than that I do not own a single coin before the 19th century. This is probably my oldest. Call me a modernist .
  8. The mintage figures for 2006 have been added: Mintage figures
  9. I used to flatten them myself, but I invested in a flat clinch stapler the past year and it was well worth the few extra dollars!
  10. A Finnish language book, loosely translated as "Researches, Collectors and Donors: Finnish Numismatists 1700-1917" by Tuukka Talvio. An interesting book dealing with the more significant and influential numismatists. Part biographical, it also deals with their collections, coins, and where some of those have been donated. The cover has a great portrait of one of the numismatists, Antell, painted by the Finnish painter Gallen-Kallela.

    Art

Got my share from a trade with Art. Fantastic!! Thanks Art for the extra.
  12. Another beauty from Bill, always a pleasure!
  13. Great notes! Those reverses are all really neat. Is there something specific to the round motif in the reverse of the $5?
  14. Great 5 pesos! That is one I still need.
  15. Is there an easy shortcut to get to the sign-in page, like a link from google's main page or a specific search word?
  16. I want in on this!! I just cannot decide which I would prefer: sirsisu@ or sir_sisu@
  17. The Barber dime looks to be quite nice. It almost seems as if someone had put together a type set within a certain grade.
  18. Is that wink for me?? Good stuff! A billon nickel too. One for the type set?
  19. Geez, where do you find this stuff!?!?
  20. No it doesn't. I went to Omnicoin to see if Tane had accidentally linked the wrong coin, but I could not find one under his name. But it sure seems like everyone else has this coin except you and I!!
  21. Cool red arrows. But can you make them point to a doubled Ike?
  22. It sounds like a normal 1 franc coin to me. I have a few of these, but none on Omnicoin. But Tiffibunny has one there that you can look at and compare to your own. About the history of the design, well I do not know much about that. Hopefully someone else will.
