Sounds like a fun project. How's about some photos so we can see your results?
Yes it is! I'm still at the mold process. Ill have photos tomorrow.
yeah, i'd love to see it! Hopefully you're using Bi-Sn solder and not lead!
Im not! Thanks for your intrest. I am giving away 5 of them!

Well, this morning I tried to create a new way to make coins
and i did it for under 20 buck i present to you.... Solder coins!
I put wraped solder on a spoon, made a mold out of sculpie clay, backed it.
Took the spoon and melted the solder with a lighter then poured it in the mold. Then it came out real nice.
PROS:
Simple
Cheap
Easy
CONS:
Low melting point
Not scratch resistant
Probably will ware easily
New coins found!
I found some newly minted 2014 "america the beautiful" coins, also some newly minted 2011 and 2013 ones, 20-30 bucks in silver coins and a new coin value handbook! So excited to check the value of my collection.

Amazing responses! Just found my first batch of silver coins, one was a huge 1964 half dollar. I'm gonna submit them in the morning, with pictures this time!

Wow, that's cool! I'm supprized a dime can be worth that much. I have a few old Dutch coins....."Mercury" Dime

This is Old Number One, the coin I have had the longest, the earliest, and nearly only, survivor from my first foray into collecting in the early/mid 1970s. This dime has been in my possession for 40 years now, and there it's going to stay.

Today on amazon I found a Bitcoin commemorative coin for 5 bucks, should I get it? It has no value, unless sold, and it has one review.

Wow, um I'll probably have to save up for a few more months. So you want to do this for $90.00 since you want to have ten dollars change left. Well never going to happen. Wifey wanted a burger, fries small and sunday over the week end didn't get large size and no drinks. came to $17.00 and change. I have to second S I money, Can tell you that a minimum of a 50 ton press and still have to double strike.
Unless you want to hand stamp them after running the planchette thru a rolling mill then using hand stamps to imprint designs.
You can't even get a custom hand stamp made for under $100.00 There are a lot of coiners out there but they have the heavy equipment to make the gamer and fantasy tokens( commonly called coins even though they aren't)
The steel to make the dies will cost more than $100.00
My rolling mill is a small one and an import and still cost over $200.00 10 years ago, My hand stamps on clearance for a dozen in the set were over $30.00.
Here is the best place for fantasy coinage http://www.shirepost.com/wp/
Tom Maringer is the best guy in this business, He does use a Fly press for demo's A new import will cost close to $2,000 and old used one even more as the antiques are sought after. That is his site he can steer you in the correct irection.
You can make a pressed cent type coin for less than a regular coin but it still costs to have the design completed and the dies made and then you have the production costs. You can still buy your own machine pretty reasonably but what would you do with it after you made a run of squished pennies/etc.?
I would store the machine or make more coins.

This coin is special because I found it in 2007 after my father had past away. He gave it to me the night before he died. I will always keep this coin.

I said other in the poll because I go to banks and ask them for specific coins. I love seeing them hesitate before they walk off to go search the vault.
-
Oh my god! Out side a bank I found a 1505. If I can find it I'll post a picture....... It's been two months since I've seen it.

Expect to be set back about $1000-1200 for design, die making etc. Then there is material cost, labour etc. I am basing this on what some private minters do for setting up coin club medallions, etc.
Oh, :/ Ok.
Does your $100 budget include die production?
No, It does not i've put aside $300 for die production.
-
These coins will either be used as tokens or private collection or maybe even to sell.wwhat are these coins for is the question
Probably gonna sell most of them and then keep the rest.

How can I make a small batch of around 50-150 copper coins that are around .5 inches in diameter?
I'm planning on using any extra copper if have and I'm on a budget of around $100 and I'm trying to have at least 10$ remaining. Help? I have a design, copper, but that's it.

Those 3D printers have a ton of possibilities. It would be nice if they made them, but probably won't until the printers become available to the public at low cost and individuals start making them. There is a guy making a car right now with one, costing around 2 grand in plastic. Seems like the end products can certainly be reasonably priced. We will see I suppose.
I don't think that's a good idea. A car out of plastic....... If the engine heats up slightly it would melt. Unless it's ABS plastic which can withstand a tiny amount of heat.

Yes, yes, the flags in the middle remind me of Spain. Maybe a Latin or Spanish coin? It looks like a low melting point material so it must eitherbe an early coin or a custom coin made with a off-centered die. Hope I was of help.
-
All I could recognize was "Arch:Av" and it sorta looks like either a custom coin or a very old coin. For some reason it's design reminds me of a Spain, idk why.
