  1. Here's mine, it is a nice note. Dave
  2. These just came in, some nice additions to my collection: Morocco P21 Morocco P23Ab Morocco P55c Dave
  3. That's a beautiful and rare note, Madison! I haven't seen too many recent postings of French notes either, but then I haven't been finding them myself. Dave
  4. I certainly would like to see those! Dave
  5. My SCWPM shows even more to the story. It has the note listed as P31 (ND 1987) printed by TDLR, then as P31A (ND 1991-2) printed by BABN, then as P31B (ND 1995) printed by FCO, then as P31C (ND 1996) by TDLR, then lastly as P31D (ND 1997) by BABN. There are many modern French area notes that were first printed by BdF and then subsequently by FCO. I have always assumed this was just a matter of purchasing contracts and pricing, where one printer has the contract for a couple years, but when the next contract is put out, a different bidder wins it. Dave
  6. That's a very tough note to find in good condition, Mark. Congrats on the find! I do not have details on this note. But the following note from the set was designed by Robert Pougheon, and this one (as well as the third in the set) certainly look like his work as well. I'm pretty sure they are printed by Banque de France, though again I have no absolute confirmation of that. Dave
  7. That's a nice note, I really like the design. Yes, French notes are known for their printing on thin wavy paper, which doesn't (unless it's extreme) detract from value. If you find a French note claimed to be Unc without waves in the paper, run away.... Dave
  8. Thank you Dave, I've been eying the lists for a nice one to show up, and finally made the move. I'm not sure this one's quite as nice as the one that got away, but its very good and fit right in to my collection since there was a spot waiting for it Dave
  9. Awesome notes Madison, those you just don't see in that kind of condition. Here's my latest French note: Dave
  10. I need that note too.... it's a nice one. Madison has it. Dave
  11. Thank you sir! I have recently had a nice gentleman offer to translate the site to Polish! So now it's available in English, French and Polish... I think that's pretty neat. He did a great job, with tons of content to translate. Here's a new note from me. I've never seen this note in Unc, this one's about an AU. Dave
  12. See323, I've always liked that Djibouti note, and that's a beautiful copy! Dave
  13. That's a beautiful Chinese note, Dave, thanks for posting it! Dave
  14. A couple of new ones that showed up in today's mail: Congo: French West Africa: Dave
  15. WoW that Educational series is really nice! Would be hard not to have hanging over your desk so you could check it out all the time One of these days I might start picking up the modern FCO-printed notes, but for the moment my "French Banknote" collection ends somewhere around 1980 or so. Dave
  16. Ah, cool! Thanks much for the "details" Dave
  17. Here's an interesting close-up of the Peacock note above. I found this while staring at a hi-rez scan, it has "Banque de l'Indochine" in microprinting in the yellow backgrounds of the left and center areas. This is by far the oldest note I have seen microprinting on. I'm not an expert in this particular area, maybe someone can clarify if it was common at or before this time (1941)? Dave
  18. A couple more from me today: Romania A Djibouti note that just seems impossible to find Unc (other than as a specimen), so I picked up this one in XF after getting tired of waiting. I'm sure now that I've bought this one, the market will be flooded with Unc copies Dave
  19. Here's a note I just picked up, to help fill out the article I wrote on Charles Walhain's Marianne issue. The overprint is the WWII Free French overprint, signifying Djibouti's alliance with the Free French during WWII. Dave
  20. Fantastic specimen note, Madison! I'm glad you bought it, now we get to view it whenever we want! Dave
  21. Boy, that's a great question and unfortunately I have no answer. Balaji, thanks for the portion you gave! Dave
  22. Very hard to compete with that wonderful note from Madison. Here's one I just received, an early French West Africa note. Dave
  23. Absolutely fantastic Madison! Must have been a wild event collecting all these up! I hope your wallet hasn't gone too dry The Djibouti specimen note has been on my "list" for a long time, and my other favorites are the Algeria note and the F. West Africa one. Really, really gorgeous notes - congrats! Dave
  24. I didn't post it because Madison had just posted the same note a few weeks ago in this thread. Sorry Dave
  25. The note from my friend Madison came in yesterday, the same Yugo note he posted above. It is a beautiful addition to my collection, thank you Madison! This note is Congo P2a, my first Congo note. I got lucky on an eBay auction, this is the 1974 engraved version printed by Banque de France. Dave
