  1. There's got to be more to this story. Hosting a site of that significance on borrowed space to begin with seems a bit weird, but then 7GB isn't all that much in 2012. I would think the IBNS could cough up the space, since they have apparently mutually agreed that Ron's images are an IBNS image gallery resource. Dave
  2. Dave, here are a couple Romania notes that might look a bit more "french": The second is designed by Georges Duval, who did many French notes. Dave
  3. A few notes coming in these days... Dave
  4. Very nice additions, guys! Baxuss, I really like the Djibouti 1000F railroad note. There are six varieties of that note, none of which are horribly expensive (as long as you don't look at the one issued under Afars and Issas). I picked them all up, just because it's a neat note. http://www.frenchbanknotes.com/frenchprints.php?country=Djibouti&section=&catalog Dave
  5. Thanks Dave, I've become enamored with the Algerian, Tunisian and Moroccan notes too. Dave
  6. Another great French note arrived today. This one from Algeria, P-106 issued in 1956. Bacchus (god of the grape harvest), a ram, and grape harvest scene. Dave
  7. That is really a neat note, Dave. I've chased a couple nice ones around with no buying luck. Nice to see you picked up a good one. I spent my latest wad of cash on a nice Algeria note, can't wait for it to arrive. Dave
  8. Thanks Dave. I was very surprised to find it in this shape. Dave
  9. Here's a tough note to find in good shape. Lebanon, P48. There are a batch of absolutely beautiful french-printed notes from Lebanon, this may be the only one I can afford... Dave
  10. Here's an early note from Guadeloupe that I just picked up. Many of the colonies used this note, called the "Cabasson" for its designer. Dave
  11. Nice notes Dave, colorful! Dave
  12. Thanks Dave. Actually the reverse is the three cyclopses forging Jupiter's thunderbolts. I cannot see the detail well enough to pick out that they have one eye. Here's an article http://www.theoi.com/Titan/Kyklopes.html that talks about the cyclopses and has a photo of the mural. The mural was found at the "Bath of the Clyclopses" in a Roman city in Tunisia. Dave
  13. Here's another Tunisia note I just picked up. P-28, Winged Victory. Dave
  14. Another great bit of research, nice job! Dave
  15. Here's a nice copy of Tunisia P24, actually the best I've seen. Dave
  16. Another Welcome, Santiago (I didn't know that was equal to James!). Your blog is really wonderful. The notes, the way you've laid out images and certainly the content. You've done quite the detective work on these items! For those who may not have noticed it, Santiago has is a link at the top right of the page to a translator tool so that it can be translated to English. Thanks Dave
  17. Great closeups, Santiago, thanks for posting them! Dave
  18. Thanks! Also check your email, I've been trying to send mails and they're bouncing on a "mailbox is full" error message. Dave
  19. Really nice Madison, German AND French of course! I thought you were going to say the last available French note has been purchased, and there are no more to collect Send me a copy when you get a chance... Thanks Dave
  20. Fantastic notes Madison, and good to see you pick up some nice French stuff You must send me the first and last of those for FrenchBanknotes.com! Dave
  21. Central African Republic P2, I hunted for a while to find this one... Dave
  22. Ah, I wasn't thinking about slow shutter speeds either. Yes, you're averaging all the colors coming out of a fluorescent light, and the net is going to be pretty consistent across photos, I suppose. The slower the shutter, the more consistent. Dave
  23. No, this effect is purely the cycling of fluorescent lights. Here's a link with a couple pictures, you'll find many like it if you scan photography forums for "fluorescent" Dave
  24. Keep in mind a fluorescent light will cycle across colors, and no amount of automatic or manual white balance setting will solve that issue. Sports photographers have issues in gymnasiums where one photo out of every 5 or so images will be a different color, like yours above. If that's the issue, you can't fix this in the camera, you just shoot some extra images to make sure you catch the light in its "normal" color. Dave
  25. No great story... I picked it up 15 years ago, before prices were shooting up, for $90. In retrospect, I wish I'd bought a lot more back then! Dave
