  1. A free pork rib recipe book, a free Moutain Dew power drink sample (did I mention I'm an internet freebie junkie, too?) and, drum roll please, one BEE-OOT-EE-FULL 2005 Canadian, fresh from the roll, year of the vets, new issue bu quarter compliments of the prodigal son, Franz.
  2. Some bonus Dutch Euro coins, some lovely steel pennies and, my favorite, a Buffalo nickel from Trantor_3! You is 'da man!
  3. Hey, wasn't Top Secret! the movie with a black and white cow on the advertisement?!? Historically accurate my pinky!
  4. I thought of chocolate rubles when I saw this: So, don't accept chocolates from a Nazi.. Tue Sep 6, 8:29 AM ET Luckily, the exploding Smedley's English Red Plums in Heavy Syrup were intercepted in Turkey before anyone got killed. But what of the hand grenade disguised as a chocolate bar? Or the incendiary Vichy pastille sweets? A secret file from the archives of Britain's spy services released this week shows ingenious methods, conjured up by Germans during World War Two, for disguising bombs. Britain's Security Service began opening its records this year under the country's new Freedom of Information Act. Among the files declassified by the National Archive was a treasure trove of nifty exploding gadgets, labeled "Camouflages for sabotage equipment used by the German sabotage services." The drawing of the design for the chocolate bar grenade says it is made from steel coated with real chocolate, and activated by breaking off a bit at one end. It doesn't say whether the grenade was ever actually manufactured or used. The file also includes photos of the incendiary pastille sweets, and bombs hidden in anything from oil cans and food tins to a lump of coal.
  5. A lovely assortment of coins from Tiff--thanks!!! I'm REALLY likin' the German coin. Not sure about it so I'll be doing research here later to check out details. It's an oldie! Bunny, you is A #1 !!!
  6. Me, too!!! I LOVE MY NEW SPARKLEY!!! Thanks so much for the hook-up, Erik!!!
  7. Oh, cool, you noticed! I bought special ones: Masterworks of Modern American Architecture. Thanks for noticing!
  8. Our pleasure! Any problems using the picture labels on the package? I wondered if that would hinder delivery. Wasn't sure about your postal rules.
  9. Hey, he was trying to, IMHO, give you a compliment on your good taste--quit being so humble! I got 10 $1,000,000 notes in the mail today, along with a steel 1943 penny! Wouldn't that be great if the $10,000,000 were real! I filled out an internet form and sent a SASE to CJC Industries--one per address, etc., all the regular mumbo jumbo. Just put one of the $1,000,000 bills in husband's niece's (cousin's uncle's, etc.) birthday card (along with a real check for $25.) I like 'em so much, an 11 year old would probably appreciate one, right? Hmm, that gives me an idea...
  10. I have my mother, daughter and husband on the lookout for me at all times.
  11. Got mine today--they're marvelous. I like the bani--not as much engraving, etc. as most U.S. coins. I think the metal looks more lusterous that way. Guess they look worse, though, after being scratched up and circulated, huh?
  12. Got my Bani today! Ditto on the great contest and marvelous prize, Mircea!
  13. Several times I have noticed members saying they have a 'connection' at a place of business or bank. Did you (or any of our members) make your connection through an existing friend or did you work up the nerve to make a connection with a total stranger? I don't know anybody who handles lots of coins who doesn't already save them theirselves. Does anyone have ideas on making new connections and which ones seem to be the best?
  14. I told you I would look at my stuff last night but completey forgot we had family dinner plans. Will do my searching tonight. You're doing quite well, Erik!
  15. Small interest right now. Mainly, I would like to know some of the more reputable dealers that many of the folks at Coinpeople use. Maybe we should have a link for that. Maybe we already do?
  16. I'm sorry I was asleep--did I miss the wake for poor Venna?
  17. Oh, you are so generous! Thank you so very much for the game and the gift. Got your PM and address will be sent. Congratulations everybody, enjoy your sets, I know I can't wait to get mine!
