  1. Isn't this the same person (Count J.J. Tolstoi) on the coin pedigree translated to English the Leo Tolstoy that wrote the novel "War and Peace"?
  2. What are your thoughts regarding this piece? https://www.numisbid...sid=418&lot=655 From the auction Rußland Nikolaus I. 1825 - 1855 Platin 3 Rubel 1839 St. Petersburg, Fr. 143, Sev. 630, GM 287. We have been able to document four specimens of this date and believe that the existence of other pieces is very unlikely. The following is a list of the known specimens in chronoligical order of their appearance. 1. Grand Duke George Michailovitsch, Corpus # 287 tres rare", plate XVIII Nr. 6. This piece has the "C" counterstamp of Emmerich Hutten-Cszapski between the eagles´ heads. It was missing from the 1939 Hess, Luzern catalog of the Grand Duke´s gold and platinum coins and is presumed to be in the Hermitage. 2. Count J.J. Tolstoi, Hess, Frankfurt auction March 1913, Lot 1623. This piece was part of a three piece 1839 proof set which was cataloged as purchased from the St. Petersburg Mint and the only set known. 3. Hermitage Duplicates Auction, Hess, Frankfurt, February 1931, Lot 1092. Described as VF and of Highest Rarity, pictured and obvisouly very worn. 4. Hess-Leu Auction Nr. 39, Luzern, Dezember 1968, Lot # 392. A three piece 1839 proof set of 3,6,12 rubles all with "AK" countermark on the edge. This was esimated at 40.000 Swiss Francs and sold for 61.000 Swiss Francs, an astronomical price for 1968. This specimen is the Count J.J. Tolstoi piece, the only specimen which is not countermarked or worn. As the finest specimen of the RAREST date it is arguably the ultimate platinum three ruble piece. With a mintage of only a few coins, this is certainly one of the rarest and most desireable russian coins. PF63"
  3. I submitted Secure Plus, it was submitted at the long beach coin show, so it was show service and Trueviews were $10 extra.
  4. Got the grade today from PCGS, they graded it a MS66. I think there is only one in NGC slab. Does anyone know of any auctions for a MS66? I searched and came up empty handed
  5. I plan on bringing it to PCGS and have some trueview images done.
  6. I couldn't look at the edge fast enough......turned outto be the B.C. mint. But overall I think it will be nice addition to my collection.
  7. The coin arrived, my pics are not that clear. I have to try at some better ones. But it does show great luster. I would guess MS63 I'm not sure it's a 64 as the Few rubs on the obverse high spots may hold it back. Not sure if the black or white background looks better?
  8. Hi Guy's, Its been awhile, I decided to take a chance on this one tonight. I don't know the mint as the seller did not know, nor did he have pic's of the edge. What grade do you think it may be? To me it appears to be mint state, perhaps MS63? It does not look cleaned from the sellers pic's but want to see what you guy's think.
  9. Hi Guy's, Haven't been around in a while and checked in and saw some additional posts regarding Novodels. I still have mine and still in love with them I also have a new updated Russian wallpaper, displaying the coin collection......hope you like it.
  10. A few new ones MS66 Neat Roosevelt proof
  11. Isn't a Denga 1/2 Kopek? I think that's how they listed it in their cert verification and there was only one graded(this particular one)
