  1. Looks fake in my opinion. Look at how crude and uneven in size the letters and numbers are on the reverse.
  2. Here's a beauty I got just today. For me it's one of those coins you just can't stop looking at and trying to get a perfect photo to capture the brilliance. Definitely my favorite portrait design of any coin I've come across to date.
  3. The Polish-Lithuania 1500's rider coins are cool. I've had one on my want list for a while (2 years+) but haven't managed to find the grade/price I want. It also seems that the price has gone up on nicer specimens of these since I started looking.
  4. I've never seen one before, but I don't see any obvious signs pointing to fake. It looks good compared to the handful available on vcoins (http://search2.vcoins.com/results.aspx?suid=54133ae8-93b1-419e-b8dd-b0ba09dfc41e) as well. Neat piece.
  5. Another NEWP! A "tiger tongue" ingot from the Thailand/Siam area. Some sort of silver alloy, dates to somewhere between the late 1600s and early 1800s most likely. Weighs 68 grams. I believe mine is the same as the type written about here: http://www.moneymuseum.com/moneymuseum/coins/coin.jsp?lang=en&id=88782
  6. There are a number of possible explanations. Could be struck on a foreign planchet which is composed of something magnetic. It's really hard/impossible to say, let alone verify, without seeing good quality pictures or the coin in hand. Virtually any digital camera sold today will have a close focus macro setting (usually denoted with a flower) which will enable you to take a decent picture. If you don't have access to a camera, try taking it to a local coin dealer (or coin club) and seeing what they think.
  7. 1916 Canada large cent ANACS MS62RB (old small/green label holder) 1938 Canada dollar ICCS MS63 - kinda baggy, but the lustre carries it nicely
  8. I've been on a buying spree 1874H Canada 25 cents, ICCS EF40 1886 Farthing PCGS MS64RB 1951 Canada Prooflike Dollar PCGS PL66. PL coins are such a pain to photograph, but it's good practice. I also need to find something better than Plastx to buff out the marks on the holder that show up twice in photos thanks to the reflective surfaces of the coin. 1949 Canada Dollar NGC MS65. I own about 4 or 5 of these now, never get tired of them 1896 Canada large cent ANACS MS62RB (old small/green label holder)
  9. Many higher end Canada large cents and other coins. Ending Sunday afternoon/evening. Thanks for looking! http://www.ebay.ca/s...sid=p4340.l2562
  10. Agreed. Errors coming out of the US mint and Canadian mint is like comparing apples to a loaf of bread. The much lower production and much stricter quality control of the RCM means very few major errors get out into circulation. I've never seen a doublestruck silver dollar like this of a date other than 1967. From the pictures I think it is probably legit, but definitely get it certified as any potential buyer would want its authenticity guaranteed before purchasing it.
  11. I always find it amazing that they could put such amazing detail into such a small coin. Especially given the technology/tools they had available at the time.
  12. Thanks guys I really like the toning on both my pieces. If only I could splice the toning from that 1947ML onto my PCGS MS65 1947ML..
  13. A couple of toners I've purchased over the last few weeks: 1942 Merc dime PCGS PR66 1947ML Canada 50 cents PCGS MS64
  14. Damn that Henry VIII groat's portrait is nice, really too bad about the hole
  15. Welcome They sure are... if you can even find them! My wallet thanks me for sticking to VF-EF and the occasional AU Victorian piece.
  16. The new issue has been out for a while now it seems. Got an email from the mint saying it is 95% sold out! Use code: Calgary for free lettermail shipping. Queen Elizabeth's Diamond 60 year jubilee.
