  1. Nice note ccg! You really should get into notes more, though -
  2. Nice Note Sair Alba! It's a great image of the two ships comming in towards Panama to cross the canal in the middle of the note.
  3. Absolutely stunning notes See! And a nice set too!!! ;) I
  4. Woo Hoo! I'm pretty jazzed about this note: 1923 red seal note. This will complete my US $1 type set from 1899-present. Though I'd like to have the experimental R and S notes, they cost is pretty high, so I likely won't get them. A Barr note would be nice someday but as for types, this is the last one I need. I'm going on an extended weekend and when I get back it should be here waiting for me! ** Edit ** Updated photo ** Edit ** Updated dancing banana to show how red I am after hiking in the southwestern US Desert for a week. Sunscreen is your fiend!
  5. Yes - Very nice notes there See! Congrats!
  6. Perhaps I shoudl get that one too! I did use the SCWPM to make that dertermination. While I did notice that there was a slight difference in the appearance of the one now known as Zhao Gong Ming and the paintings I've seen of Ch'ien Lung, I attributed it to their being from sifferent stages in life and the artistic licensing granted to ancient persons. Curiously, I've just learned that there is an older series of African banknotes which has an ongoing dispute over whether the painting was of the correct person! Ah, synchronicity - Gotta' love it! Thanks for clearing that up Chinnotes. Have you emailed G. Cuhaj about that change in their catalogs? Mine is a couple of years old, so I do not know if it's been updated or not.
  7. See - your note is from a Japanese Puppet Bank set up in China during WWII. Your note is P J137 issued in 1944, and it has a similar cousin (with a different back) which is P J132. The Emperor depicted on teh front is Emperor Ch'ien Lung, the longest reigning emperor in China: Wikipedia Link Nice note! I haven't seen many from this series.
  8. here's one I couldn't let escape from this zoo: Macedonia 10 denar
  9. As far as cats go, I have only one. A few years ago a supplier had a few German Notgeld which had depictions of historical folklore regarding old witchcraft tales, etc. I picked a few of them up, and have not seen any others elsewhere since. This one has a black cat on a witch with a bunch of witches flying and riding off after apparently scaring some motorcoach passengers. There's also the requsted pig from a few posts back as well. This one is of the fleet footed Ostrich from Botswana. Surprisingly, I seem to have only onne of this animal too:
  10. Nice Silver Cert! Looks to be in great condition.
  11. Got this today. Not the greatest, but a very nice AU anyway. One of those I couldn't let pass.
  12. Those are two very nice notes there! These specialized issues are rare sights, at least for my eyes! Congrats on the pick ups - I like them a lot!
  13. Need an entry in the seafood category: And while I'm at it, here's a nice toad:
  14. One of the hardest notes for me to scan.... and the colors are still off. My scanner needs to be replaced I think. The area from teh date to the womans legs on front should be a blue to red-brown transition, and the notes background should be more green, but no matter how I set or try to change later, the image is off in color. ANyhow, it's close enough. I see that BanknoteBank.com is still not quite up to it's old standard yet. It seems to me that the photo/scan size is set to that of the OmniCoin site instead of the older BanknoteBank size. Images I submit are all cropped at top, even when I submit in the 300x300pixel format.
  15. I've seen some amazing notes here! THey're all great, and make for an amazing notaphilic zoo. I've been looking through mine this evening, and while I have too many to list them all here, but I've got a few of my favorites to show based solely on artistic merit. Personally, I think there needs be more dogs, after all they're mans best friend, right? Unless you're a postal worker I suppose. Colombia - Beautiful, colorful birds Chad - More birds Denmark - the common House Sparrow. Fanfare for the common bird - Gotta' like that, eh? Hm.... kinda' going for the Alfred Hitchcock Theme here? Djibouti Nice Artwork for an ugly mammal. And Last but not least (cuz I'm tired and have too many too choose from) Scotland - A wee mousy!
  16. Very cool. I like this series of Irish Notes.
  17. Arriving this afternoon was this rather hard to get (in a decent grade) 10 Franc note from French West Africa. It's smaller than I had expected, 3-7/8 inchesX2-3/8 inches (9.7x6cm) but it is the best grade I have ever seen.... and less than half price of one in a full grade below, so I'm pretty happy all around. Plus it's a nice solid serial number - even if it is that bad ol'e 666 - so I suppose that might be an added plus. Now I'm on the search for an AUNC to UNC 100 Franc note..... hard to find in that condition, though.
  18. Madison & DaveM All exquisite notes, very beautiful indeed. But special congrats to DaveM on replacing the stolen 5-er!
  19. Nice note - makes one wonder if the peasant girl was even Ukrainian. *edit* I was slow in my post... nice Mexican 50 Pesos there too. 1st time I've seen that one I believe. Rawr!
  20. See323 - Absolutely gorgeous notes! Congrats on the aquisitions. I have a 666 note from French West Africa on the way - my first solid, even if it is only three numerals.
  21. I got these notes in today. I have no idea abou the date on teh Chinese note - it seems to be unlisted, and there's not much information on it - no serial numbers, etc. Maybe it's local Currency? THe Paraguay note has been on my list for a while and I finally just got it.
  22. Woah! Trippy - Was it Timothy Leary? I wouldn't want to look at that while going down the stairs - It's likely to induce dizzyness!. Nice note though- nice low number too!
  23. Nice Bison Saor Alba! And nice provenance too!
  24. Nice red seal semi solid See323! Looking forward to your posts of new notes when you can.
