I've seen copies of the Sol and 1/2 Sol but none of the smaller coins (1/5 Sol, 1 Din., 1/2 Din.) and none of the fakes were silver. I have a typeset of those and you really should go for high quality, esp. in 1897/1898 and onward dated coins.

Not really, the given values are 10 US$ for the copper Ryal and 20 US$ for the Girsh, those prices seem to be somewhat random but could have been issue prices.

They're both modern fantasies, the Bruce (unusual world coins) references are: XPn1 for the Saudi Girsh and X1 for the Hejaz Ryal

Excellent examples, thanks for showing ccg!
He remarked that it's quite popular there for coins to be cleaned / whizzed / polished, and that it's actually a bit of a challenge to find an original piece that someone hadn't tried to "improve."
Definitely true, and the larger the coin the worse it is, 200 and 500 Reis can be found in "original" condition but 1000 and 2000 Reis are almost always found (harshly) cleaned.
BTW, i remembered that i have this one (it would be fun if they made them in Denver):

The strike is really soft on that one.
When did the empire 10 cash coins were demonetized in China (or at least in Guangdong)? I think maybe it was an attempt by someone to transform obsolete coins (the "dragon" 10 cash) into currency (the HK cent), in this case one should sould be able to purchase the "coin planchets" at a steep discount, all you need was to fabricate the dies to have a profit...

Spain, 10 Pesetas Silver Certificate issued by the Republican Government in 1935(6). Curiously at this time there were not any silver coins in circulation in Spain, and probably the promise to pay was based on paying out older Alfonso 5 Peseta coins from the late 19th century. In fact, they may have never paid out anything but these lovely notes printed by Bradbury Wilkinson in England.
Actually Dave, they had circulating silver coins at the time, the 1 peseta 1933 (34) was a silver coin, the "rubias" were only struck in 1937, so in theory you could exchange this banknote for ten "1 Peseta" coins (silver).
And in Portugal, until the mid 80's the banknotes were all "gold certificates", there is the word "Ouro" below the denomination and there wasn't a circulating gold coin in Escudos ever minted, altough you could exchange this for gold at the state bank the word "Ouro" printed in the banknotes would simply be something psychological.

About 99% of them bring a weight, just be sure te one you buy has one...
Mine is an old "RiteWeight" RW-Notebook, i don't know if its still being made. It's a bit thick but it's very pocket friendly and got all the weights of UNC gold coins that i've checked exact (by the 100th gram)! The maximum weight is actually 55 grams, and the minimum is 0.05 grams.
But i think that nowadays, about all the 50/0.01 scales have the same quality (except the really cheap ones...), 50 Euro will buy you a very nice machine.

Er, no...
But before buying one, take in consideration the scale portability, when the lid is closed does it cover all buttons? Useful if you want to carry it (now and then), and i would prefer a scale with a calbration weight included.

Thank you Erik!

Glad that you like them, the 2 cent. i've sent you has to much "die cracks" in the obverse for Dave...
Ok, I'm getting upset. Nothing from me yet? You should have 2 things coming from me.The coins i've sent took twice the usual time (six, instead of three workdays) to arrive to Finland, don't stress Tiff, he should get your stuff in a couple of days.

The assayer letter is an "F" and that symbol is the Segovia mintmark (a kind of stylized arches from the city famous aqueduct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aqueduct_of_Segovia , which is also represented in their COA).
