  1. This I got in Baltimore. It will be part of my "Centuries Set" the historical edition.
  2. I may have a Hamburg Schilling from 1726, have to find it though.
  3. You could just buy a few coins to help this along
  4. An 1880s IH cent, and I think an 1883 nickel once
  5. As it turns out of you rotate the reverse 90 degrees you can see a figure on the left. This ends up being a follis of Justin II at Carthage overstruck on an issuue of Justinian I at the same mint.
  6. This is an ugly but interesting coin. It was overstruck, but what's off is the iconography on the obverse. The cross between the two figures was used at Antioch. However, the globus cruciger was not a feature of that mint. Also, the figures don't seem to be seated and they are not even (the left is higher) neither of these things is unheard of but all in all it makes for an odd coin.
  7. An interesting story so far dvana. This will make for a great article some day. I would think you'll almost have to go back to the source and find someone who is willing and able to do the research. The Melbourne mint may have some old records. There may also be some contemporary mention of an event that would explain the existence of the coin.
  8. I won't be a smart a** and post something with regnal dating I don't hae anything really old in Anno Domini
  9. What do you do with the extra copies?
  10. What's the time frame on the history?
  11. Awesome coins Bill! I love the continuity with the past that the temple represents.
  12. I just picked up some old books myself. Original editions of Roman Imperial Coins Vol.I and Vol.II as well as History of Jewish coins, printed in Leipzig in 1862. To round out my lof there's a more modern book, Grierson's Coins of Medieval Europe. I got this from the ANA library and had trouble shippig it back. For $80 it's an awesome book about that time period.
  13. A 2004 Canada PL Dime, and a 1962 Canada AU Nickel. Odd finds for Canadian money down here.
  14. Yeah, I had no business buying that save for the eye appeal
  15. The current CNG auction has a LOT of great book lots.
  16. I've forgotten Probably to wear away the cleanign lines and the little bit of corrosion just a little. Though it's not really distracting on that coin.
