  1. Does that translate to "FürstinRegierung"?
  2. Domestic and Foreign Coins Manufactured by Mints of the United States 1792-1965
  3. Nice post Bill, it's very interesting to read how collecting goals form, shift, and solidify.
  4. Are you going to start with Caesar or Augustus? Are you going to do the Eastern Emperors as well or stop at some point before Diocletian or 1453? How long a lifespan will a usurper need to make it into your set? On the Greek side, I'm with you. Luckily I can't really afford any really nice ones so I am spared having to try to squeeze those into a collection
  5. My December Celator finally showed up, January's is probably not far behind.
  6. What's the deal with that toning? Is that common and original or did you have to pay extra?
  7. 12" is a little small for a copystand for me. Does anyone know a good place to get/browse copystands? 24"-36" up would work better for me.
  8. Received my Christmas note from Art. Thanks
  9. I votede for the Seated. It is derivative but I like the 2500 years of historical continuity
  10. You are correct, $70 http://www.whitmanbooks.com/Default.aspx?P...ctID=0794819524
  11. I think I remeber those from Barnes and Noble last year. I may be wrong, but I thought it was around $16.95.
  12. I have received Byzantine Coinage by Philip Grierson, he was a former advisor to the Dumbarton Oaks for Byzantine Numismatics. It's a very nice little volume with a basic overview of Byzantine coin types and some very helpful notes. Only 68 pages in total so it's a nice intro for Byzantine coins. I don't have the Berk so I'm not sure how they compare.
  13. This came today. While not high grade I think my imaging took a way a little detail as well. The second Roman/Byzantine facing solidus after the Licinius II issue that costs five figures.
  14. You could complain, I mean if you see the guy walk past your place and not even bother to look that's pretty crappy. I used to have one like that too, I think it was in North Saint Paul.
  15. I was just going to post that. We are lame
  16. Yes, those are them! You sure have fast access to all these coin images. Did you upload everything to Omnicoin?
  17. Someone did that not too long ago taking ancient coin blanks and striking his own designs. They turned out pretty nice, I think I have one somewhere.
  18. So what do they say? Mail all your coins to NGC?
  19. I just received Art Forms and Civic Life in the Lare Roman Empire by H.P. L'Orange. This was recommended on the Byzantine yahoo group. I was inquiring about the reasons of the change from realistic portraits done in profile to the more abstracted facing portraits used in the later Empire. So hopefully this will shed some light.
