This one is usually attributed to Phocas, 12 Nummi. I may be able to get some more detail with a little microscopic cleaning...

Right, except that "vorstinnen" is plural. So in German you would say something like "Fürstinnen-Regierung".

Good, thanks. When I first looked at that I read "Vorstirn" and I couldn't figure out what a forehead had to do with femal rulers.

"Vorstinnenregering"

Does that translate to "FürstinRegierung"?

I'm currently looking for really old commems but its almost impossible to find it cheap!

Pre or post WWII?

So, my current focus for ancients is twofold: to collect at least one coin from each Imperial Roman emperor; in ancient Greek coinage, to collect as many beautiful pieces as I can afford, no matter what part of the Grecian Empire they're from.

 

I love the coins of Grecian Syracuse, Thrace, Corinth and Asia Minor. So far, the Corinthian staters are pretty much out of my price range, but the others are probably doable within my budgetary limits.

Are you going to start with Caesar or Augustus?

Are you going to do the Eastern Emperors as well or stop at some point before Diocletian or 1453?

How long a lifespan will a usurper need to make it into your set?

On the Greek side, I'm with you. Luckily I can't really afford any really nice ones so I am spared having to try to squeeze those into a collection

What's the deal with that toning? Is that common and original or did you have to pay extra?

12" is a little small for a copystand for me. Does anyone know a good place to get/browse copystands? 24"-36" up would work better for me.

You take a pretty general approach to collecting because you strive for diversity; different looks, different grades, different sizes, different shapes, different countries, different metals and anything that is differently different in a very different way. Your knowledge is limited depthwise but is very broad and across the numismatic playing field.

I think the leather bound Redbooks run around $70.00. Also, they are larger than the regular redbooks. Page has wide margins. Info and pics are the same size as the regular redbook. They're very nice. I'm hoping to win one someday in one of our club thingys.

I think I remeber those from Barnes and Noble last year. I may be wrong, but I thought it was around $16.95.
