  1. I just finished adding my pictures of my coins on photobucket: @ salbruno's photobucket. Check it out, what do you think, attached it to this site ...Vote on my poll after viewing, thanx everybody... http://s214.beta.pho...lbruno/library/
  2. Welcome Carlos, I'm also some what new to coinpeople and to Ancient coin collecting, I specialize in Roman Republic silver denarius mostly. Anyway, I was burned by a Sweedish seller claim to be from Spain (named Ollee), a month ago, but thru ebays buyers protection, got my full refund. In my case, Coinpeople member (Scottishmoney) helped me, he said it is a cast fake of an Alexander III tetradrachm - it just has the look of a fake, the metal is NOT silver - it is some pewter with a high lead content that is soft and the result is the damage. He said they come from Bulgeria and other middle east countrys and its illegal to export, needless to say, sell fakes like I did on ebay. The key on spotting a fake, does it sound silver when dropped? Also the weight grams will give it away. More important, on mine, Hercules has a small spot weld on his right shoulder...You might want to read my transcript on this site on July 19 th... here is my pics of this fake Drechmacoin :also, checkout my small coin collection, if you want to see it, is @ salbruno's photobucket -- just type in your search engine... hope you get what you are looking for and best of luck.
  3. Thank you Scottishmoney, I've since had seller agree to accept this fake coin, returned for a full refund. I've learned my leason on ebay and warn new comers on the pittfalls of ebay frauds or any other coin transaction fakes...In fact, if you look closely to hercules/ herackles right shoulder you can see a little sauder spot from a recent addition to the coin. Great catch and I appreciates everybodys advice.
  4. (First coin shown below), I just bought this L. Furius Phillus Denarius off ebay $62. As a biginner, I try to limit $90 to each purchase, averaging about $70. I know eventually some nice Roman Republic Denarius will cost over $100+ and a lot more. But for now, I'm learning, a limited set budget seems wise. Did I make a good purchase as a starting Roman Republic Denarius collector? What tips should I look out for, I know about over-sea fakes... What can I do to show off my growing 6 coin collection... hahaha =) ...I belong to NGC collectors society, using there collector manager to organize, photograph and catolog future purchases. I also have David Sears Roman coin book, any good software for computers or mobile phones... I tried photo bucket but hard to link URL to this sight correctly...I'll keep trying. Also need a grams weight scale, ebay seems a good inexpensive place to buy one, what should I look for in buying one. Any advice welcome, continue to collect Roman Republic coins, maybe some Ancient Greeks...I included some my other coins bought, in addition to the new addition of L. Furius Phillus Denarius. I would love to hear your advice to a starting collector and share information on good auction sites. Here are the descriptions of my coins in sequence: L. Furius Phillus Circa 119 b.c., M. Cipius 115-114 bc., Equestrian state L. Phillipus 113-112 bc., M. Porcius Laeca 125bc.(2 pictures obverse and reverse)., Spurius Afranius 150 bc ( 2 pics)., and finally Greek Athena obverse with owl in reverse., date unknown 200 bc ???
  5. Scottish Money, I though so, but just had to hear it from another collector or two before I try to return. Its cast fake, pewter or lead content with some damage. Thank you and take care...
  6. Bought coin from e-bay Spainish seller. Believe its fake, another coin dealer preaty much agrees. The size, a tinny bit bigger (round) than U.S coin, same thickness, weight is about 8 grams. It doesn't sound silver when dropped. What is it?, and should I send it back, have 45 days...The seller didn't say imitation, made it sound authentic. Alexander the Great, Herackle on obverse and Zeus, father with septer, eagle/hawk on throne in reverse. In Reverse, notice the u shape on the left, and no mint marks under chair. Mark from OmniCoin identified it as Greek...
