  1. Thinking fake as well. Hopefully you didn't spend too much on it
  2. I am sure everyone has heard of Littleton Coin, and have purchased the occasional coin that they offer in the sunday ads (atleast I have). Well yesterday my wife was going through the ads and put one to the side from Mystic Stamp and Coin Company, where they are offering a 70th anniversary pearl harbor coin. Littleton in my mind is pretty reputable and I have never had any issues, although when not buying from one of their deals the mark up will be very high. Is Mystic Company reputable? Has anyone used them? Also they are claiming the coin is free if you send in $2.95. I did a simple google search and can only find like 3 reviews. 1 bad, 1 good, and 1 was so-so. There website is this: www.mysticstamp.com
  3. Welcome to the art of collecting coins. Error coins are fun to search for, however I do not think these are errors. I believe them to be normal wear and tear, others might think differently. But on the Quarter there might be some doubling on the mint mark, but I would believe any extra value it would add would be lost due to the chip near the 'OF'. Wait for more people to chime in, and I would reccomend showing the quarter to a coin dealer.
  4. I ran across this today while reading some local news. The pictures are pretty cool http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=157&sid=20459760
  5. My purchases have slowed down because a good part of my disposable income is now being used on a mortgage instead of rent. But happy I bought a house
  6. In my opinion you should purchase the red book, get an understanding for what the coin is worth. it tells you what to look for in common grades, and gives you the price. you can also use NGC's website to see how much of a price difference there is if you get it graded. Sometimes the cost to get it graded will cut out any potential profit you can make. If you are not planning on selling them you can just buy coin flips at ebay and enjoy the collection. It is honestly preference. Example sending in a modern penny probably not worth it. Sending in a 1916 D mercury dime in good condition is probably worth it.
  7. Your wife should market it. I would love something easy to help catalog my collection!
  8. I understand that Art. The commemoratives have always had a soft spot in my heart. And when I buy them they deplete my monthly expenditures on other coins
  9. Got my star spangled banner commemoratives today. they are pretty
  10. Got a 2009 P DC quarter real nice condition with doubling around the piano leg and the "ke" in duke. (anyone seen that before) Going to try and get a good pic of it when I head over to a friends who has a better camera. Also from the same cashier I got a 1974 Canadian cent
  11. I bought 2. One proof and one uncirculated. I love the design and can't wait to hold them
  12. They ran a special about this on the local news here. Interesting I wonder what other metals would be in consideration.
  13. DITTO generosity is very rare!!! I think I might have to try this in the near future.
  14. When I was five i grabbed one of grandpa's silver dollar and tried to buy candy.... grandma stopped me :-(
  15. A bicentennial S quarter. Looks like someones child broke into a coin collection and put a coin in circulation that wasn't supposed to be. But a happy day for me
  16. As weird as this sounds I got most of my national park quarters while in Yellowstone
