  1. heheh...it's a bit silly trying to sell something for that much through pm's on a small board. practically screams something's not right. if he really had something worth that much, he'd find a major venue and sell it fast.
  2. be careful... the bigger spaces, colorful artwork, and more complicated designs might get you hooked! it would definitely be detrimental to your bank account's well-being if you were to find yourself being hooked on coins and banknotes. welcome to paper!
  3. my post is only valid if he meant he literally had the "first one" and forgot to add the #1 and the end of all his zeroes. (i gave him the benefit of a doubt, since a specimen note of that type would be a lot harder to forget...it would be full of holes and would have a dark red "muestra" overprint). either way, he's either lying about having the very first note, or he's grossly overcharging for a specimen.
  4. p-151 1000 ptas, catalog value $60.00 if he means by "first one" 000000000 he has serial number 0000000001, then he can put any price he wants on it. seems awfully strange to offer such a high value, extremely rare note through a banknotebank pm, instead of say....sotheby's or spinks.
  5. welcome to the world of paper!
  6. good luck finding one of these for sale...
  7. ooh, i like oli's design! heheh, try the same approach on the 100 dollar note with one of those monty python bunnies.
  8. heheh...i was running out of modern notes to collect (price/availability-wise), and your post about them is what got me interested in the first place. then mmarotta posted about local currencies, and aidan posted about private issues (chatams and such), and now i have loads of things to collect!
  9. i'm in a promo note phase, if it isn't obvious. i've only found one of these offered for sale, and it was sold by the time the pricelist reached me.
  10. a definate must-have series. i picked most of mine up from shwarz-a on e-bay. in fact, he has a hologrammed 50 for sale right now. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ssPageName=WDVW if you want to match the rest of your notes, i'm pretty sure he has the older non-hologrammed one if you asked.
  11. thanks i was wondering when you'd be back
  12. i've never seen any security proofs, but de la rue & co. did make quite a number of ibns souvenirs. here's a couple of them:
  13. do you have any pictures? i'm trying to find similar notes from goznak security printing. very hard to find...
  14. here's one for $6.95 http://aes.iupui.edu/rwise/dealerlists/Mor...gains_page6.htm atsnotes.com sells them for $12.00, and they sometimes pop up on ebay every once in a while.
  15. here's an old note printed by de la rue giori security printers in lausanne, switzerland to display their security printing abilities to prospective clients. the front features johannes gutenberg, the inventor of modern printing. obsolete by todays standards, it's still a well designed, attractive note. de la rue giori was sold in 2001 to kba security printing (koenig & bauer ag) and is now known as kba-giori. their more modern note, shown here, features jules verne and boasts over 90 security features. i've never seen one for sale, but i'm dying to get my hands on one!
  16. heheh...i'm not sure if they're trying to get rid of their zeroes or not, but if they are, that whole imf money crisis thing must've set them back plenty. i'm pretty anxious to see the new notes. they've had their money the same colors since the 70's, (before my time- and i was "made in korea" ). blue, red, and green as the new currency colors is definitely more bold than the softer purple, orange, and green they're using now.
