  1. Received from Dad's Stuff: 1964 Kennedy UNC - Nice orange/tan toning around the rims 1954-S Franklin - I'd call it a F-15/VF-20 all day long. Nice original coin with good honest wear. Does have a small rim ding at 8 o'clock position, no biggie!
  2. Erica's sister found, what I believe, to be a 1959 PROOF Jefferson in circulation. I'll have pictures up later tonight. As neither of them collect coins it was given to me as a gift. No cameo effect but boy is it shiney and mirrored.
  3. I have one of those 50 Franc pieces, fantastic design.
  4. To me the older ICG grading is off. I've seen obvious AU Morgans in MS holders. Now the most recent grading, to me, is pretty spot on. I can see where they called it a 66 and agree with the grade. With their recent grading changes I'd put them equal to or above ANACS. ICG had their problems in the past but I believe they are trying to fix that. Heck, I'll take the discounted price Really friendly people too. I met three or four of them at CSNS. While the people at the PCGS booth weren't worth the effort to chat with.
  5. The 1815 1 Pfenning has some attractive coloring (to me). Neat-o!
  6. I love the stack of German notes.
  7. Received my prize package from Vfox today. Awesome stuff!
  8. Just received a: 1945 Merc in a PCGS MS64 holder. It's in the old rattler slab. I believe the first and third bands are split. The second not even close (sadly).
  9. Sister found a 1988 New Penny from Great Britain at work.
  10. Some more fantastic finds Vfox! I can't believe people let the red seals go through their hands so easily. I can understand a silver cert here and there but red seals, wow! In fact, I think I only own one red seal and it's a $5.

    Slabbed Vs. Raw

I agree with the points above. The slabbing helps prevent damage but also prevents accurate viewing of the edges and (to me) very minor details. Pretty to scratch a slab than a coin. The main reason I've bought slabbed coins are to help me with my own grading and just as examples. Trying to get a different slab from each of the top 3 companies sounds fun.
  12. Where do you work again? Can I get a job? You find some of the coolest stuff.
  13. For some reason most of the Nebraska quarters I've seen have been really well struck and still holding a lot of luster. Not sure if people are saving them and rarely spending them or what. Still kind of cool since I love the design. Had two decent finds today. Star $1 note and a 1965 Washington quarter in AU (which I can't find now!). Nothing exciting but it still looks good.
  14. Well I was searching some rolls when the best find of the box was made. My words, out loud, were "Holy crap!" A 1942-D that is probably UNC overall. The obverse is basically mark free. Sadly the reverse has some odd coloration which is probably from storage. This coin had to of come from a collection. I'm amazed at the quality. Pictures to come tomorrow!
  15. Busy few days with me buying: Purchased four coin bags at a garage sale today. Three were "U.S. Mint $50 Cents" bags and another just a regular bank. OK condition. On one bag you can see the rings the coins made from being stored for so long.
  16. Back from the coin shop. Purchased three more beauties. Republic of Cyprus 1963 25 Mils - UNC Great Britain 1861 Penny - I'd call it Good overall France 1883 5 Centimes - Red/Brown but I suspect an old cleaning, color just looks "off" to me. I'd give it an overall of VF or there about. Rather nice for the price.
  17. No not until Monday, sorry. Left my lenses back in Toledo and won't be home until then. I'll be uploading a lot of pictures then. Have to show off my finds from 5000 cents searched
  18. Purchased a: NCS "Binion Hoard" 1923 Peace today on the way home from Gatlinburg, TN. Decent coin, cool holder, and decent price, $13.
  19. For some reason I find the 92-S attactive. Nice ones.
  20. 1975 Poland 2 Zloty - Nice unc, little red toning on obverse. 1992 Malaysia 10 Sen - Really nice unc. 1934 Great Britain Farthing - Probably AU or so. Dark toning with luster. I really like this one! 1951 Bolivia 1 Boliviano - Unc with lots of rose toning. Very pretty. 1970 Mexico 20 Centavo - Listed as Unc on the 2x2 but I think it's more of an AU or low MS. Great color, still nicely red.
  21. Went through $100 worth of Kennedy's today. 1 - 1968 EF 2 - 1967 AU's 9 - 1976 Bicents in MS condition. Really weird because there would be two stacked in almost every other roll. Best looking 76's I've seen come out of rolls. 1 - 1996 MS Pretty much all that's worth mentioning. There is a 71' that has an extra wide rim. Kept it just for the heck of it! Out of my $25 box of cents I opened up two rolls. One had a MS63 or so 1961 facing up and the other a VG/F 1941-D facing up.
  22. More plants for my tanks. CoinWorld Bills Parking Permit for school
