  1. I got my clad proof this week. Looks great. No change to my silver/gold order. Both say they will ship the middle of July now.

I'm 100% sure these will not hit the cellar. Why? I'm seeing on the trading card forums I frequent people who have never bought a coin in their life buying these. If we bought them.....and they want them....well...... ;)

  2. You did very well!

Darkside material in Ohio is few and far between. What you see is either modern (as in 1990+) or coins so beat up you can hardly tell what they are (still in the 20th century!). Once in a while someone will have maybe one or two really nice darkside coins they got in a trade or something for sale.

  3. I'm getting into die varities, errors, etc quite heavily. I can't afford a lot of stuff to finish my sets but I can afford to cherry pick here and there.

I actually just won a 1945 WLH missing the designer initials AW yesterday on eBay. At least I think I did. Can't see any on the photos and it's a pretty obvious mark. Maybe I'm blind!

Anyways, does anyone here belong to CONECA? Is it worth the $25/year membership price?

  4. I won an 1875-S Twenty Cent NGC MS65 the other day on eBay for $150 (it's a $4500 coin).

    Talk about a r-r-r-r-r-ip!

He contacted me. Told me it was listed in error by their eBay program. Offered me a store credit but understood that if I wanted that Twenty Cent piece, he had to give it to me for $150. It wasn't his, he was selling it for someone else. Couldn't let the guy take a $3k+ hit like that even though I won it fair and square (sort of).

Took him up on his offer. I now have a 1881-S Morgan NGC MS64 coming from him.

  5. Purchased a new loupe. Generic 20x off eBay. It was only $9, is HEAVY, decent lens, and has LEDs on it. It's cheaper than the black plastic ones that get lost or broken way easily. I was so pleased I ordered the 10x to keep at home. The 20x will stay in the car and travel with me.

  6. I actually do like the Ikes. Not my favorite but something about big ol' hunks of metal. They have that "old school cool factor" about them. The silver proof I bought for a pocket piece is almost too nice to pocket.........but too bad!

Now Churchills. Cool history but bleh design. Only reason I might like them is because he resembles my high school mascot (English Bulldog).

SBA will always be sort of special to me. My Grandpa got the biggest kick out of giving me one whenever he received one in change or went to Cleveland (their rail system used them for quite a while I guess). I've got dozens of them and will never get rid of them. No numismatic value, but that isn't the point. After nearly losing him this month (he was in the ICU I work in for two weeks, it's a damn miracle he lived), all the coins he has given me have been put into a safety deposit box. Never to be sold.

Can't wait for the contest. I've got a few uglies lying around. Might be able to dig up a few Sacs too!
