  1. OK...I think the wikidot PDFs you're referring to are those indicated as being in 'the library' i.e. my library. There was no volunteer uploading, nor...as I said...was it possible to do so. There was no charter text specifically calling for pdf uploads by volunteers. The whole site was really to document auctions...what...where...etc, not to provide an upload/download facility. It was really quite limited in scope.
  2. I checked, and like any other image you can simply left-mouse drag-and-drop out of rnumis right into coinpeople, as above. That should work fine. For the right-click-copy & paste folks there's probably a simple flag that needs to be set in zoomplus. It's not intentionally set up like that, at least by me. Will report back.
  3. Thanks gx! Right Simply push the Switch Image1 <--> Image2 button. It's that easy. Good catch! I fixed this. It was originally uploaded by Eugene but you and I have the ability, like anybody else logged in, to fix/edit entries.
  4. I second that! Thanks very much for sharing Candidate. I downloaded and opened the RAR no problem and will coordinate with Ex on getting them uploaded to rnumis. And thanks to everyone else who has contributed something. Per Sigi's excellent suggestion, the ability to upload edge images will be available sometime soon.
  5. (1) For future reference, from pretty much any website and pretty much any browser you can left-mouse and drag-and-drop pretty much any image out of a webpage and onto your desktop (or into any other folder). You shouldn't really need right-click or 'Snag'. Some sites jump through hoops to prevent this drag-and-drop but it's rare. That said, I've enabled right-click. The new Zoomplus had it disabled by default (don't know why). It was a simple fix. (2) Of course people downloaded many high-quality JRNS pdf issues from the RNS website over the years that I ran it. It's nothing to do with technology. The process first involved something called 'paying' and helped raise two or three thousand dollars of sorely needed funds for the RNS. (3) What auction pdf uploads at wikidot??? No such thing ever happened at the wikidots I ran, nor was it possible to do so.
  6. It's basic, but you get the idea. I added a description meta tag in the html as recommended by the SEO folks. My understanding is that keyword meta tags are a thing of the past and search engines don't use them, but I could be wrong. I sent a PM with details of the new loginIDs you requested for your contacts. Anybody else need one?
  7. The illustrative coins have been replaced with 'real' fakes . Those of you who requested logins, please feel free to start uploading. Thanks, Steve
  8. The dataviewer for the demonstration Russian Fakes database is now live at http://www.rnumis.co...gtyp_rf_gallery The coins there so far are for illustration only and I'll replace then soon. To upload or edit entries you will need a login (send me a PM). To add comments or view the coins, no login is needed.
  9. So, on the back of IT I'm putting in place at rnumis, I've spent a couple of days putting together an uploader + database for Russian Fakes as a basic demonstration. I still need to write the data-viewer (the important part for end users) but that's relatively easy. You can find the uploader at http://www.rnumis.co..._research_0.php (It looks much better in firefox & chrome, though IE will work. Haven't tried Safari or Opera) It was designed to be simple - 2 images + year + denomination. Optional description/notes. And that's it. Click upload (assuming you're logged in) and the coin gets written to the database and will be immediately viewable by the world. I'll load in some fake-images that I have to get it started and will report back when the viewer is ready. This is not the be-all and end-all, just an illustration of what's possible.
  10. He says it in his first post.
  11. Much better pictures! All perfectly nice, perfectly normal coins. Steve
  12. Hello Toby. The photos are very small, but the coins look fine as far as I can tell. The weights of Catherine 5Ks can very widely and there are design differences, though numerals do follow a fairly standard style. If they were rarer coins, I'd ask for larger pictures, but these I'm sure are just fine.
  13. A couple of quick notes: A new issue of JRNS is in preparation, I'm told. I, for one, submitted an article. We'll see what transpires. RNS may yet breathe again. The website russiannumismaticsociety.org is indeed unavailable at this time. The web-hosting contract expired last year so it just died. I've paid for registration/hosting out my own pocket since 2001....a small contribution, I know. Anyway, nobody seems to have noticed except Ron (this all happened before talk of a new JRNS issue). That said...the domain name is still registered to me through 2014 and it would be very easy to re-host it should the need arise. I applaud Ron's enthusiasm and motives, we just differ on implementation. If an RNS core group can agree on the goals & technology, we could move forward.
  14. That's OK Bob; I did the port to PDO a week ago (went very smoothly) and had already turned off the default emulation behavior so no worries there. It's working fine. Apologies for for boring everybody and I promise I'll say nothing more about it
  15. Thanks Bob! That solves that long-standing mystery. I nver knew. I may well have some 'Girard' coins somewhere in my trays,,,will have to go back and check. I might have bid higher in those sales if I knew they were from RWJ. Oh well.
  16. Hi everyone. The rnumis website has had it's first real upgrade (sorting + login/email registration). There's also the ability to see material from other (beta) sellers but that part is still in the early stages. In addition, more material has been added. For those needing one of the standard references, there are a small number listed under Numismatic Books - here If anybody notices any problems/bugs please let me know. Steve
  17. Not sure if you're asking if there are other denominations in gxseries' set, but the answer to the broader question is yes: http://colnect.com/e..._Tuva/year/1934
  18. I also came across one of these...back around 2001. Still in my boxes somewhere!
  19. Thanks Bob...I've been putting off the migration to PDO for a while...time to just do it
  20. I did discuss something along these lines with Ron about 6 months ago, but it was felt that it would be too much work and time to port his existing framework (of which I've only scratched the surface and into which he's put a huge amount of time and effort) over to something more web-based / user friendly. Personally, I don't think his framework is going to fly *at all* (though I think others should make their own minds up) and I think ultimately the investment of time to port it would be worth it *if* there was demand, but I don't really hear that either from the community.
  21. This is, of course, easily done (though care has to be taken in the design). My new rnumis website - and other numismatic data resources I've built and use heavily but haven't made public - was built with a mysql database underneath and displays beautifully on my smartphone. It's even better on an ipad I have other 'non-public' webpages for reading-from and writing-to the databases when I'm on a train or in bed. It all works wonderfully. Nothing to download. Nothing to install. Nothing to fight. It just works. There again...I'm told my opinion has been colored by my bias for these kinds of solutions. I guess I can live with that
