  1. Thanks akdrv Hi Scottishmoney, the main site is fine its never been down but we were having a lot of trouble with the forum which has been down for several months. I had to switch server providers twice before I finally managed to get it working again. You should be able to click through onto the forum on the home page of CoinsGB. I just tried and its working, you may have to refresh your page?
  2. To celebrate the re-launch of CoinsGBforum.com we would like to have a giveaway on this forum. Prize: India 1923 1/24 Anna (Bombay mint, Unc) picked from a small group I acquired. 4. I'm just working on my new website http://gold-sovereign.net I have already added quite a lot of information and thanks to all that allowed me use of pictures. I have been adding more content, including this page about how coins are minted (made): http://gold-sovereign.net/category/coin-minting any other suggestions for pages/ articles always welcome.
  5. Very nice and its nice to be able to compare the coin to the seal.
  6. I think leaving the word "bare" in there will make your site a little more popular with the search engines HAHA I never thought of that I should maybe change it back. I could maybe add more words like "bust" as in jubilee bust etc..
  7. Constanius and Clive, thanks very much for your input and taking the time to read over my site If anyone notices anything else or has an idea for another post or page (I was thinking one on coin termology?) then please let me know. I am slo looking to exchange links with any other decent coin related sites. Many thanks, Hus
  8. I still have a bit to do but if anyone fancies taking a look and critiquing the site for me I would be grateful. I am looking for opinions good and bad, spelling mistakes etc and any suggestions eg, new content. http://gold-sovereign.net/

  10. Cool thanks. What kind of camera set up do you use? your pictures are very clear.
  11. Some fantastic pictures Bill. This type is my favorite. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3450/373704...534692130_o.jpg How do you show it small but with a magnifying glass to zoom in? is that done on Flicker? Although I like the mirror image in real coin orientation I think it makes the image look a bit over crowded. Regards, Hus
  12. Hussulo, 1862 Portugal 5000 Reis Ex. Eliasberg NGC AU55, Group 10 I was inspired to start collecting World gold coins after looking through Eliasbergs World gold sale catalogue by Stack's. Eliasberg amassed a lot of his coins by buying complete collections but the reason why the coin below is special to me is because he personally chose and handled it during his trip to Spain in 1971. http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/977416.jpg Lot No. 679 1862 Portugal 5000R. Purchased on Louis Eliasberg's trip to Spain 1971.

  21. I agree, fantastic coins and it's nice to read about the history that goes along with them.
  22. I seem to fall into the main group: Male, married, 20-30
  23. Great coins guys! You don't often see many toned gold coins, but I do like the touches of pink on this one.
  24. I understand not liking colourful toned coins, but why do you want to make a coin look like the way it did when it left the mint? For older coins 100 years+ that just isn't natural, unless they are gold. If I see a coin that isn't unc and has no toning on it, then it just screams cleaned to me, if a coin is worn, it means it has been out and about so naturally it should have acquired toning of some sort. If you had a nice antique table would you sand it down to make it look new? Sorry Carl I'm not having a go its just I have never managed to understand the "blast white" phenomenon. Hus
