elverno
1804 Coronation of Napoleon I, France Bramsen 328 - Details - 26mm Laskey XL Edwards 33 d'Essling 1023 This is more or less the official coronation medal design, with Napoleon held up on a shield by the Senate and the People, the latter in this case represented by a soldier. The book of laws to the left of the Senator is closed in this version because of lack of space. The item to the right of the soldier is actually a plowshare, something he apparently had to give up to go protect the Nation. Sometimes you get lucky. This is an original piece, in decent condition and cost $25 on the Bay. Go figure.

That sounds dirt cheap for an interesting and historically important medal. Congratulations!
