RW Julian
Group,Can we guess at the authenticity of this coin, as well as several others currently on sale on eBay by this seller? http://cgi.ebay.com/Russian-silver-poltina...1QQcmdZViewItem (If I have mismanaged this link, please pardon me...I've never tried to provide a link to this group before) Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=310070194197 A very similar piece was published as a fake in the Russian Numismatic Society Newsletter No. 17 (spring 2006). The dies seem identical except that the P of POLTINA on the reverse is complete in the Newsletter illustration whereas the piece offered for sale on eBay is missing the cross bar at the top of the letter. As the rest of his coins appear to be fakes, I think we can safely include this one as well. RWJ
