ccg
Coins have often been used in making spoons, either as the bowl, or as the finial (topper). Here's three salt spoons with coin bowls from Mexico (5c), Peru (1/2 dinero), and the Netherlands (10c):
Art
Excellent examples. They make very interesting collections. A fellow from the local coin club has a large collection from Holland of spoons made during WWII. Very interesting history associated with them. As I recall it had something to do with images of the Queen being forbidden on money but ok on household items.

Lots of pins, brooches, bracelets, and other accessories, in addition to spoons. Here's a ladle (25c finial, 2.5G bowl):

ccg
Beautiful piece. So you know all about this stuff. Can you fill us in on the history? To be honest I actually learned of the background here. Many WWII Canadian soldiers took part in the liberation of the Netherlands, and there was a great post-war migration to the local area, so I'm fortunate in having had the chance to see many of the different items around. ccg
Do you collect them, ccg? Yes! I like that it's much more challenging than just collecting coins, and there's no "keys" to worry about!
thedeadpoint
Please share your collection more (maybe in another one of the forums?)!
