Andersson
Hi, I saw a strange coin at a dealer last month. It was like the 1736 silver ruble but the edge was thick and the whole coin was 45,5 mm in diameter instead of the normal 40. Anyone seen something like that? RARENUM
Dear Andersson, It is not normal if coin not overstruck on yearly host coin .Please provide the images for 1736 Ruble. Thank you,Rarenum
gxseries
Seems unusually too big. I have a 1736 ruble coin but the diameter is at 41mm. I have an overstruck ruble but it's only at 43mm. 45.5mm is definitely large. On top of it, a thick edge would make much less sense as if it is indeed overstruck, the edge would be thinner, not thicker. Photos will definitely help. Andersson
Thanks for responding. I have been looking in all kinds of coin guides and can not find any with similar edge.
gxseries
To me this looks like an ex jewellery coin.
IgorS
I agree, but it is not ex. jewellery, it is still a jewellery - the coin is in the bezel. The edge is not a part of the coin itself.
RARENUM
I agree with IgorS,can add only your silver coin was used in the 18th-19th century on the territory of Ukraine and known as Dukach (pendant). Rarenum
