Hi All

I recently bought this coin and although I can make out the moneyer Adam On Lund on the one side, I am a bit stumped on the other......is that a cross or an optical illusion? Is it Henry? Richard? Anglo Saxon? Viking? Or something else.....

So my question is..... " What do I have"?

I Would appreciate any input......

Regards

Rick

I have rotated your image and can make out HENRICVS REX and you also can make out the crown, curls, hand and sceptre it looks like it was a Henry obverse overstruck with the reverse or vise versa. Could also have been issued in John's reign.

I just realized something... I was raised in Henrico County, Virginia. I knew it was named after the 1611 settlement Henricus. Your post made me realize where the name probably came from. According to Wikipedia, it was named after Prince Henry, the eldest son of James I.

Cool!

Thanks for your posts. Constantius, now that you rotated the coin i can also make out those details. Good job :-) Further investigation has yielded the possibility of this coin being a brockage.
