Court Says 1933 Double Eagles are U.S.G. Property

A U.S. Appeals Court ruled on Monday that ten 1933 $20 gold coins are U.S. Government property because they were stolen and never released into circulation. The family that found the coins in their father's belongings will appeal this to the Supreme Court. While I'm unsure which side I side with, I don't blame the family - at $10M each, the coins are worth the appeals costs!

Odd that they only showed up after the Farouk piece sold.

Had they surfaced earlier, they would have had a good case to use the subsequent Farouk sale to make the same argument on a split.
