sigistenz
WHO IS HOLDING THE ORB? Sigi .
squirrel
Alexi. The decoration on his sleeve matches his robe. Optical illusion! edit: maybe.. . now i am confused. Perhaps this is copied from a painting. Find the painting! It will have colors!
sigistenz
I forgot to say that the picture can be enlarged by clicking on on it once and then a 2nd time. The sleeves of both people go to the orb but the hand below does not seem to below to any of them. Sigi

squirrel
If his hand holds the orb, where is her hand going? Is that the question? He is smiling, after all.

IgorS
All the participants on both sides of the medal do not look too attractive, to say the least. Yudin did not do a good job making this copy. The Werner's original is better.
IgorS
Sigi, I am guessing you won this one at the last Kunker's eAuction? This is the very first medal in the Diakov's catalog of the medals 1672-1917!
sigistenz
No, Igor, I do not collect medals any more. I just wondered about the hand. I was after the Siberian 10kop1776KM old type - a common coin but nicer than mine. But It went way too high, I think €450 (plus 20% plus shipping).......... Sigi . IgorS
I won a medal there. Actually, it was in a lot with other few. A very rare original striking, but only in white metal. Silver or gold would be more desirable, but not for my budget. It is from the Muller series for the Northern war. This one is for Capture of Livland, 1710.
