wossip
On 19th January 2016, an auction will take place in Salisbury, Great Britain, which will include the 2 original obverse DIES for the Matthew Boulton Russian pattern silver Ruble and for a gold Imperial of 1804. Each die believed to be UNIQUE. SEE http://www.woolleyandwallis.co.uk/departments/silver/sv190116.aspx?page=

IgorS
Not sure if you noticed - Stacks New York auction had a few dies of the early Soviet coins. I think one sold for ~$16,
gxseries
IgorS - I was really skeptical until I had a look at Stacks. Wow... Out of all places, I just can't imagine how they were taken out from Leningrad Mint. Sure it's sold for a fair bit but it's something that doesn't appear in the market. I don't even know when one was sold!!!
IgorS
Yes, I also wonder how the dies made it out of the mint. The control at the SPB mint is pretty strict. Recently an obverse die of a very rare Alexander I medal by Leberecht was sold in Europe for a song.
thedeadpoint
Very cool to collect the dies of a favorite series.
extant4cell
I'd pay to see that collection
wossip
The dies for the one Rouble and the Imperial each realized £6,000, plus about 30% in buyer's commission/taxes. That is just under US$12,000 each.
IgorS
Thank you for providing the original link. I participated in the bidding, but things quickly became out of my league.
