Bobby_Math
I am doing research on Admiral Evans ( "Fighting Bob") whose portrait graces the so-called dollar HK 351 and HK 352. Someone has suggested it may have been made by Moise/Klinkner of San Francisco, but I would be interested in anyone's opinion on when and where this medallion was made. Was it iin honor of the May, 1908 Fleet arrival on the West Coast and made locally or were they made somewhere else. I have heard that these SCD may have gone along with the fleet from the beginning of the voyage. If so, who manufactured them? Anyone know? Many thanks! bill
I am fairly certain it was Schwaab Stamp and Seal of Milwaukee. They were a major manufacturer of medals and badges of all sizes at the time. The pieces are not typical of the work of Moise-Klinkner at the time. Bobby_Math
Thank you Bill. I recently came across an HK 352 in copper but with the 2 loops already a part of the medal (I.e. not added on at a later time). It must have been part of a ribbon with maybe a battleship at the top of the ribbon and "Fighting Bob" hanging below. Am trying to determine the varieties of this very interesting SCD. Again thanks!
