Ian Posted April 11, 2012 Report Share Posted April 11, 2012 The Corieltauvi tribe were centred on modern day Leicester extending to the East coast and occupying most of current day `East Midlands' region of England. Their coinage dates from the second century bc. This particular piece dates approx 50 -40 bc and is referred to being of the `Hosidius' type. That is, it mimics a roman republican denarius of L Hosidius Geta (68 bc).. Obverse is a boar facing left.with a daisy in a beaded ring above.
