Ian Posted February 7, 2019 Author Report Share Posted February 7, 2019 I've just upgraded the example I have of this particular jeton, which was struck sometime in the 1670's for the Paris Chambre des Assurances (maritime assurance syndicate). I'm not sure how to grade this one (?) I've never seen a better example than this one and i'm not sure whether that is because the original strikings were poorly /flatly struck in the first place or that the surviving examples are just significantly worn. I'm sticking with `fine' for now but other opinions would be welcome. Reverse has a ship sinking in the distance and in the foreground a survivor is holding on to what looks like a raft.
