I don't know your budget, but Aussie predecimal doesn't come cheap these day, the note I posted above is one I picked up earlier this year in VF condition (a nice VF though) for over A$650 (as of today that translate to US$650!). I'm trying to get as much Aussie predecimal I can afford while I can, especially the George V & George VI issues.

I picked up one of these earlier this week

All my notes were picked up 15 or more years ago when price was very cheap then. When I did pickup this 10 pounds, i did not realise it was a 1st prefix note until recently....a lucky find and it is an 'unc'note

I have a reasonably poor budget, I limit myself to staying strictly within my collecting criteria which is “if it doesn’t have an animal on it then I don’t get it.” I appreciate that everyone is posting their notes, it helps me see what I am missing. Thank you.

I don't have the note (way too expensive for me) but here's one of my favorites on a BEP Souvenir Card.

This is turning out to be the year for Collecting Animal Banknotes. There have been an unusual number of countries announcing that they are releasing new banknotes this year with animals on them. So far the major sets have been: Brazil, Tanzania, Philippines, and Costa Rica. And now Sri Lanka is going to. These look like they will be as collectible as the 1979 set.

Nice looking banknotes and interesting thread generally. This might be good place to ask: Is there any banknotes that have picture of koala in them?

I just have one koala-loving friend who surely would love to have one :) but surprisingly didn't find any. Lots of coins though.

As you said koalas are on “lots of coins.” I do not recall ever seeing a banknote with a Koala on it or even as the watermark. But there may be one out there with a koala hiding in the background, I just do not remember seeing one. I will keep an eye open.

I would have assumed that Australian money have full of koalas and kangaroos... But I think that if you haven't seen any koala banknotes, I can stop looking :) Thanks!
