thedeadpoint
http://www.coinnews.net/2010/04/01/queen-h...n-royal-service I'm glad to see this tradition continue. Is there a big aftermarket for these?
ccg
Not a big market, but there is one. Modern stuff is very difficult to get since people don't usually part with their coins.

Really? not even ebay? I know they changed the gold content of olympic gold medals because athletes would turn around and sell them for their content or for their rarity. Maybe the Maundy recepients aren't that hungry for money.
KoRnholio
I could see a set of these going quite high on Ebay. Rare + personal (well, by proxy in the aftermarket) with royalty = $$$. I don't think it will be too long before a few sets hit the market.
Art
It's a wonderful tradition. I'm guessing that modern sets will stay in the possession of the receiver until they pass-on and then the heirs will hit ebay or Spinks with them.
Saor Alba
Unfortunately the BRM has kind of dumbed the Maundy coins down a bit in the last few years, now they can be bought in off metal strikes in gold and in sets of silver - these coins are made directly for sale to collectors. So it is possible to obtain these recent issues if you are willing to pay the price for them.
