constanius
A calendar medal by John Powell of Birmingham. Bronze or copper 39mm with some of the original gilding remaining. I always wanted to add a calendar medal to my collection and when I saw this beauty it said, buy me! LINK TO CALENDAR MEDALS

I seem to remember having one of that category not so long ago - that might make an interesting type of collection too.

constanius
Did you notice the 2 new moons in December? One is represented by the small 2 inserted between the moon & the 31 for the 2nd 31st respectively. Also some possibilities for research, if anyone is interested; Hilary? Sun cycle II? Gold.Num.19? Dominical Lett. E? Epact 18? I have googled what they mean but it seems a shame to post the results & spoil it for others. Matt, you are right, they would make an interesting collection. ccg
Very nice! I didn't even know they were made that early... both of the ones I've seen previously were Victorian.
