elverno
1795 George III Farthing token, Great Britain. 20.5mm - Details - D&H 1112 (Middlesex, Spence's, Farthings) Thomas Spence was a pugnacious radical who had no fear of consequences. He used his tokens as a way of disseminating his ideas and I have read contemporary stories (such as from Farrington's Diaries) of Spence throwing his tokens out of the windows of his shop at passers-by as a method of distribution. All of his symbolism is odd, sometimes fun and I would encourage others to post pics of their Spence tokens. I put this in Exonumia because the purpose of his tokens was always political, never financial.
