luke_idk
I want to show you 2 coins from Gorizia, that at the end of XVIII century, was under Austrian domination. This town was part of the Holy Roman Empire and was inherited by Maximilian I of Habsburg, in 1500 A.D. Occupied by Venice (1508-1509) and France (1809 – 1813) it remained part of the Austrian Empire, until WWI, when it became part of the Kingdom of Italy. After WWII, the town was divided in two parts and assigned to Italy and Yugoslavia (now Slovenia). These coins are “1 soldo”, coined under Francis I, Emperor of the H.R.E. The first one was coined in the mint of Gunzburg (mint sign H) The second one in the mint of Hall (mint sign F) but it carries a particular coin error, that turned F into E, that was the mint sign of Karlsburg (now Alba Iulia, Romania) that, anyway, didn’t mint any coin for Gorizia, in 1799.
