Here we are at the Robert Moses Power plant below Niagara Falls. In 1961 when it opened it was the largest Hydroelectric plant in the western world. Water is diverted from the Niagara River above the falls—up to 375,000 gallons a second—and conved through conduits under the City of Niagara Falls to Lewiston. From there, water flowing through the Robert Moses plant spins turbines that power generators, converting this mechanical energy into electrical energy. Thats the Queenston/Lewiston bridges in the background, Canada is on the left,US on the right.

Steel winds.

This just went online a month ago. Eight 2.5 megawatt wind turbines constructed on the slag piles of the old Bethlehem steel plant on the shores of Lake Erie. It generates enough electricity to serve the needs of approximately 6,000 homes.
