Scottishmoney
A lovely and pristine example of a rather scarce banknote, this one issued by the New York City Waterworks in January 1776. This was a scarce municipal issue of paper money that was used to raise funds for the support of the Waterworks in New York City. This is why I am particular to this note and had to buy it, albeit when I was young and it took up a large amount of my funds - the image of the hydraulic cylinder pump and the representation of fountains on the reverse. This note is very unique for Colonial era notes for the fact that it is a municipal and not Colony issue, that it has an engraved image of something other than a leaf or floral design. sgard
It is possible sometimes. I had Confederate UNC dollars some years before. My US (Luisiana) partners neighbour rebult his family house and ..... there was box with 100,000 dollars under the building. Grand-grand-...father of this man sold his cotton, and then army of Northern States came.
