Here's a section where everybody can talk about any coins from Malta, which have been issued since 1972,when Malta changed over to decimal currency. There were 10 Mils in 1 Cent. There are 100 Cents in 1 Pound, just like in Cyprus.

The most unusual coins that Malta has ever had was the 4 silver Pounds, which were issued in 1974,1975,& 1976.I have the 1974 & 1976 ones, but not the 2 1975 ones.

The private pattern Euro coins from Malta are very interesting,as these are designs that will not be put onto the currency issue Euro coins.

You can get some information about the coins & banknotes of Malta here; http://www.centralbankmalta.com .

Officially, the Maltese Pound is called the Lira (plural [Liri]),but in English,we just call it the Pound,as the Pound sign is still commonly used in both Malta & Cyprus.
