  1. I have reposted a few already (back couple of pages, starting on this page) using Flickr. Works well and the in=mages are not compressed. I will likely use my website but Flickr was quick and easy.
  2. Well, I used Photobucket to store/host medal pictures for many years, all the while being free. Photobucket made this change suddenly with little or no notice. I have used Imgur and although it worked the same as Photobucket, I did not use since many of my medal pics were already at the Photobucket site. It is just a shame that so many pictures are no longer visible...
  3. At the very least I will continue to post but use my website as the server/host for any future posts.
  4. Wow, just found out that Photobucket no longer allows free 3rd party hosting for photos. If I want ALL the photos I have placed in this thread to show up (from photobucket) they are asking for $39.99 a month. That is the only option that allows 3rd party hosting. I will not pay that amount not even any amount close to that. It will take a lot of time and since this thread has actually lost peoples' interest in the last couple of years, I am unsure if I will take the time to post all those pictures from my PC. I am sorry that all my pictures are gone now. I never thought Photobucket would do such a thing but in some ways, it does not surprise me. Money is very important! A lot of work, effort, and pictorial history gone...

I plan to post one every week or so with a starting bid of $9.99 and with free shipping. Art - if this is not okay to inform members about this, please let me know. 13. Hi Tim, Yes, I have an 1897 piece, just missed the date in my post. Thank you for bringing the omission to my attention. I certainly will entertain any duplicates, so if you ever make the decision to sell, please let me know. Happy New Year!
  14. 1895 Genève, canton Genève R686a / M377 Excercice Arquebuse et Navigation AR 51 mm Engraver: Hugues Bovy, Genève Mintage: 8 pieces for this date RRR This is my favorite large shooting medal. Richter states that the mintage for 1895 is 7 examples although my Father and I know of 8 pieces. My example below is in outstanding condition with proof-like surfaces. The medal was awarded in 1893, 1894, 1895, 1897, 1898, 1899, 1900, 1901, 1903, 1904, 1905, and 1906. It was struck in silver and bronze with the silver examples being somewhat harder to find. Since this is my favorite larger schützenfest medal, I have attempted to collect as many silver and bronze pieces as I can when the opportunity arises. I am asking my fellow CoinPeople members to keep an eye out for this medal for me. If you see one or have one you would sell, please contact me.
  15. Welcome Peter. You will find that CoinPeople is fun, informative, and resourceful!
  16. I agree with the letter designation of JYWL, as shown in the photo of the old font (great research by the way), the only letter that is somewhat different than the script above is the W, the others are pretty much spot on. However, I am somewhat suspect of it being the Scandinavian word for Christmas "Jywl" (as shown above as a word in the attached Scandinavian excerpt) since the embossed script on the case has periods between each letter. Does anyone know if the word jywl was used for Christmas ever with periods as on the case? The periods would lead me to assume that it is an abbreviation... J.Y.W.L. Just my opinion, although I could see the reasoning/assumption of Pope Pius and Jesus/Christmas.
  17. From the same auction- Without year (1911) Rüderswyl - Zollbrück, canton Bern R377a / M175 Emmenthalisches Schützenfest Uniface Silver Mintage: 327 Engraver: P. Wyss / Holy Freres, St. Imier Rare With intricate and elaborate surround as pendent
  18. A new acquisition from a recent auction. 1924 Rehalp, canton Zurich Rehalp Shoot Br Versilbert 30mm R unlisted in Richter
  19. The medal is also signed "JOHNSON" which based on the type it is likely Stefano Johnson of Milan, Italy. He (his company) signed their medals; JOHNSON, SJ, S. JOHNSON on so on. Stefano Johnson was hired to engrave medals that are from many countries other than Italy or Europe for that matter.
